Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Adult Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS preferred, CCRN a plus Must-Have: Candidate must have at least 2 solid years of cardiovascular ICU experience. Candidate must be familiar with equipment and patient population without issue. Candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment. Candidate must have strong assessment skills, critical thinking, communication, and organizational abilities. Candidate must be able to follow protocols and orders as written. Candidate must possess motivation and a positive attitude. Description: The unit has 20 beds that are all private and monitored. Nurse-patient ratios are 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1, depending on patient acuity. Common diagnoses include post open heart surgical patients such as CABG, valves, and dissections. This includes post cardiovascular procedures, STEMI, unstable angina, and cardiogenic shock. Candidates will care for patients requiring ICU care, including ventilated patients. Specialty intervention equipment includes IABPs, Impellas, Swan Ganz, ECMO, external pacemakers, and CRRT. Lines utilized are PICC, midlines, CVC, Swans, and arterial lines (radial and femoral). Candidates should be able to titrate drips such as dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, and more. Charge nurses and house supervisors are available 24/7. Patient care techs may be present, with ratios depending on staffing. Respiratory therapists are available around the clock. All patients are connected to Philips monitoring, and RNs are expected to interpret strips. Shift scheduling is not self-scheduled and involves every other weekend and holiday. Candidates may float to other levels of care. Appropriate scrub appearance is required, without specific color restrictions. The unit requires a proficient understanding of all cardiovascular ICU components. Utilization of temporary pacemakers, swans, CVC, and arterial lines occurs daily. Candidates should be adept at managing multiple interventions simultaneously. Cancellation policy allows for client cancellation up to 12 hours every 13 weeks. Charting system used is EPIC.
