Summary:The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the monthly financial close process, maintaining the general ledger, ensuring accurate balance sheet balances, assisting with financial reporting, and supporting internal controls within a fast-paced agribusiness manufacturing environment. This position works closely with the Corporate Controller and Business Units Controllers to provide accurate financial information and analysis. This role supports both our Williams, CA & Davis, CA locations and would require travel to both locations on a weekly basis.ObjectivesProvide current, comprehensive, correct and consistent financial updates, analysis and reporting to Corporate Controller and Business Units’ Controllers.Ensure Accurate and Timely Financial Reporting.Strengthen Accounting Processes, including Cash, A/R, A/P, and General Accrued Liabilities.Support Operational and Financial Performance.Drive Continuous Process Improvement and develop Cross-Functional Business Partnerships.Responsibilities (All Companies and Subsidiaries)Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and investigate unusual items.Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and cash account analyses.Monitor prepaid expenses, accruals, fixed assets, and other balance sheet accounts.Prepare affiliates’ financial packages and reconciliation activities.Record and reconcile debt, interest expense, and financing transactions.Prepare monthly flux analyses and explain significant account fluctuations.Assist with fixed asset capitalization, depreciation calculations, and disposals.Ensure timely and accurate recording of expenses, and accruals.Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement preparation.Identify and implement accounting process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.Assist with the development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures.Support the implementation and monitoring of internal controls over financial reporting.Research accounting issues and prepare technical accounting memos when necessary.Prepare schedules and analyses requested by management, auditors, and regulatory agencies.Participate in special projects, ERP implementations, and process improvement initiatives.Prepare supporting documentation for annual budgets, forecasts, and strategic planning initiatives.Maintain strong working relationships with sales, and operations.Other Duties:Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
