The Senior Development Director is responsible for ensuring goals are achieved in revenue generation and volunteer leadership engagement for the Heart Ball campaign.This hybrid position is based in the Greater Phoenix division and the work is wherever it is most effective – in the field with our current and prospective supporters, at home and in our Tempe office.The Association offers many resources to help you maintain work-life harmonization through your changing needs and life situations. Be Valued at the American Heart Association.ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate the American Heart Association leadership competencies and employs effective management techniques in the sourcing, recruitment, selection, supervision, management and leadership of 1 direct report to appropriately develop and engage staff to achieve organizational objectives.Manages and directly implements the Heart Ball campaign through driving to American Heart Association best practices. Directly accountable for achieving revenue goals aligned with funding research, public health, professional education and training and community services.Drives the ongoing process of identifying, recruiting, engaging and activating an influential, financially strong and volunteer leadership base to support sustained campaign growth. Builds recruitment committees and executive leadership committees to identify and engage high level event Chairs and working committees.Prospects, solicits, closes and stewards high-level corporate and individual donors. Develops and implements year-round cultivation plans ensuring superior donor relations.Provides staff support in planning, developing, implementing, growing and evaluating campaigns and events consistent with best practices and event timelines. Provides staff support in volunteer leadership recruitment, orientation and development.Collaborates as a part of the Division, Region and Association-wide team to ensure full alignment with vision and goals and provide consistent support in all aspects of fundraising and other assigned organizational initiatives.Ensures that team operates within appropriate operational and financial boundaries and within the financial capacity available. Operates in accordance with the American Heart Association's Fiscal Standard policies and all applicable laws, regulations, policies and standards.Communicates proactively and timely with VP, Executive Director and other internal and external partners. Consistently delivers on commitments made to internal and external customers.Qualifications5 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or other related experienceUniversity/College degree or equivalent experienceAbility to do daily local travel and some overnight trips as needed; requires access to reliable transportation at all times on an immediate basisAbility to lift and/or move large objects (such as boxes) with the expectation that heavier items would be broken down into smaller components or requesting additional assistance may be required before lifting and/or movingMust have at least basic knowledge and skill/proficiency with Microsoft OfficeHere are some of the preferred experience and skills we are seeking:Experience managing and cultivating high-level leaders at the C-Suite levelKnowledge of corporate and community networksCompensation & BenefitsThe American Heart Association invests in its people.
