Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN First Assist (RNFA) for an Operating Room position requiring robotics and surgical first assist experience at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital.

Details

Acute hospital OR setting within a Magnet-designated teaching hospital with 186 staffed beds

Works in the RNFA unit performing surgical first assist duties

Day shift schedule of 4x10-hour shifts, 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM

On-call responsibilities 1-2 times per week until 8 PM

Weekend on-call coverage required every 2nd or 3rd Sunday from 7 AM to 1 PM

Utilizes Epic EMR

Cases include general surgery, GYN, neuro/spine, ortho/total joints, plastics, robotics, urology, vascular, and bariatrics

Performs robotic-assisted procedures using Da Vinci and Da Vinci Xi Surgical Systems

Requirements

Active RN license (CT or Compact) required, or must apply prior to submittal as CT license processing takes 15-21 business days

Minimum of 3 years of RNFA experience required; 1.5 years considered for candidates with Level I trauma or travel experience

Required certifications: BLS; ACLS and CRNFA preferred

Required experience in robotics (Da Vinci systems)

Preferred experience in total joints, spine, and plastics procedures

Trauma Level I and Level II experience preferred

Proficient in surgical first assist skills including suturing, tissue manipulation, clamping/cauterizing, and wound dressing

One professional reference required for consideration

Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted

COVID vaccine and booster required, with exemptions available only for religious or medical reasons

Additional Information

Assist surgeons in the OR across a range of specialties including general surgery, gynecology, neuro/spine, orthopedics, and robotics-assisted procedures

Perform surgical first assist duties such as tissue cutting, suturing all wound layers, clamping and ligating vessels, and inserting drainage tubes

Facility offers free parking

Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved

Local candidates are not accepted; candidates must live outside a 75-mile radius of the facility

Former staff members must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible to return as a traveler

First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
