# Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse – Kansas**Start Date:** December 14, 2026**Location:** Overland Park, Kansas**Compensation:** Details provided to qualified applicants**Schedule:** Full-time assignment with 48 hours per week guaranteed; self-scheduling with 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule; no on-call requirements**Highlights:**- 18-bed Progressive Care Unit specializing in cardiac and pulmonary patients including COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CHF, and tracheostomy care- Patient ratio of 1:4-5 with support from 2 Patient Care Technicians and 1 Unit Secretary per shift- Utilize Meditech documentation system with modern equipment including Alaris pumps, Kangaroo pumps, Pyxis, and in-room computers- Care for moderately unstable patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and respiratory management every 2-4 hours- Perform advanced respiratory interventions including BIPAP/CPAP therapy, AirVo low flow oxygen, and nasal cannula oxygen delivery- Structured floating policy prioritizing travelers, with team-focused patient experience initiatives**Requirements:**- Current RN license in Kansas or compact state eligibility- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification required- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required- Progressive Care, Telemetry, or Step-Down Unit experience strongly preferred- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and pulmonary patient management**Why It's a Great Opportunity:**This Progressive Care Unit bridges the gap between critical care and medical-surgical nursing, offering dynamic patient cases with cardiac and respiratory complexity.
