Survey Party Chief - Senior Pilot Surveyor
Title: Survey Party Chief - Senior Pilot Surveyor
Location: McDonough, GA (30253)
Pay: $30 - $40
seeking an experienced Senior Pilot Surveyor / Survey Party Chief to lead drone-based land surveying operations supporting residential, commercial, municipal, and infrastructure projects. This role combines traditional land surveying expertise with cutting-edge UAV technology.
The ideal candidate will bring strong field leadership experience, expertise operating survey equipment, deep knowledge of land surveying practices, and hands-on experience utilizing FAA Part 107-certified drone technology in surveying applications.
What You Will Be Doing
- Lead and manage a 2-3 person survey field crew on land surveying projects
- Conduct boundary, topographic, construction layout, ALTA/NSPS, and FEMA elevation surveys
- Operate drones/UAS platforms to capture survey and mapping data
- Utilize GPS, total stations, and data collectors to gather accurate field information
- Interpret survey plans, legal descriptions, deeds, plats, and project specifications
- Coordinate with office survey staff, contractors, clients, and project stakeholders
- Document field notes, sketches, asset tracking data, and survey deliverables
- Ensure field operations are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with surveying standards
What You Need For This Job
- 3+ years of land surveying experience
- 1+ years as a Survey Crew Chief, Party Chief, or Field Supervisor
- FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate PREFERRED
- Experience operating drones/UAS for surveying, mapping, or geospatial applications
- Proficiency with Total Stations, GPS systems, and Data Collectors
- Strong understanding of boundary, topographic, construction, ALTA, and elevation surveys
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to work outdoors and lift up to 75 pounds
