Key statistics:950+ Consultants640+ Ph.D.s90+ Disciplines30+ Offices globally Our Opportunity We are currently seeking a Managing Engineer (Ph.D.) for our Biomechanics Practice in Seattle, WA. In this role, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team of experts to solve complex engineering problems relating to human injury analyses in various environments. This will involve evaluations of the human body's response to applied forces during accident scenarios, including biomechanical accident reconstruction, assessment of human injury mechanics and injury potential, and characterization of human interaction with safety and occupant protection systems with consideration of potential injury mitigation. In this role, you will also work as part of a team executing consulting projects that involve the analysis of vehicle occupant protection system performance, safety assessments, and federal and state regulations. You will be expected to develop your own consulting practice and grow professionally within Exponent. You will be responsible for Managing projects from initiation to completion; communicating project updates to other team members, clients, and administrative staff; ensuring that Exponent meets its deadlines and produces exceptional work product; and identifying business development opportunitiesDeveloping and growing the Biomechanics Practice in SeattleAttracting and developing new projects and clients Maintaining and advancing strong relationships with existing clients Building and leading diverse teamsMentoring and developing technical staffProviding project management and project budget oversight Setting up and executing various test programs, including full-scale vehicle tests and component or control systems evaluationsOverseeing inspections, testing, and engineering analyses of vehicles, accident sites, and other evidenceAttracting projects to support full-time staff as well as effectively managing and developing a group of highly motivated junior consultantsPromoting Exponent’s multidisciplinary consulting expertise and your professional reputation through activities such as publishing papers, presenting at conferences, conducting seminars or serving on expert advisory and scientific / technical committees You will have the following skills and qualifications Ph.D. in Biomechanical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field6+ years’ of post-graduation experience in human injury analysesAbility to generate business and manage client relationshipsAnalytical and problem-solving skillsPrior testifying experience is idealAbility to interact with managers, engineers, non-technical personnel, and clients and present technical topics in a cogent and comprehensible mannerPresently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required Applicants are encouraged to submit a CV with publications (feel free to include publications that are in review or pending) [not restricted to 1 page]. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent. At the Manager level and above total compensation includes base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.The base salary range for this position is dependent on experience and capabilities which will be assessed during the interview process.
