Commercial Building Engineer HVAC

We are seeking an experienced Building Engineer to assist with the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems within a commercial office property. This hands-on position is responsible for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, minor repairs, and supporting the safe, efficient operation of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems. Key Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on HVAC equipment, including air handling units, chillers, pumps, VAV boxes, motors, belts, and associated controls. Monitor building automation and energy management systems, adjust operating settings, respond to HVAC service requests, and maintain equipment logs. Inspect, maintain, and perform minor repairs on electrical systems, including lighting, outlets, switches, breakers, and related components. Maintain and repair plumbing systems, including faucets, flush valves, toilets, drains, pumps, and pressure-reducing valves. Conduct routine inspections and testing of fire and life safety systems, emergency generators, and fire pumps, ensuring proper documentation and timely reporting of issues. Respond to tenant service requests, coordinate with property management and vendors, and perform general building repairs to maintain a safe, professional, and well-maintained property. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certification in HVAC, electrical, or a related trade preferred. Minimum of 4 years of commercial building maintenance experience preferred, or equivalent technical training. Working knowledge of commercial HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical equipment, building automation, and life safety systems. Ability to troubleshoot equipment, interpret mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams, and safely operate tools and building equipment. Strong communication, customer service, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation, respond to building emergencies, and work occasional overtime or outside normal business hours.
