Cyber Systems Security Engineer As a Cyber Systems Security Engineer, you will take a leadership role in enhancing cybersecurity. You’ll drive the development and integration of modern cyber solutions that protect and empower critical Department of Defense (DoD) assets. We are integrating state-of-the-art cybersecurity solutions into mission-critical systems to ensure resilience, integrity, and continued superiority under the sea and across domains. Provide Cyber engineering expertise, while understanding architectural need and finding cyber solutions that can fit that need. Basic Qualifications Designing, implementing, and maintaining security controls to protect system confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Leverage guidance from Risk Management Framework (RMF), Security Requirements Guides (SRG), and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) to advance cyber controls in system security architecture. Integrating secure configuration tools and processes for Linux and Windows environments. Performing security assessments and validating configurations through automated testing and tailored solutions. Collaborating across teams on secure system and network design that balances mission goals and cyber protection. Leading technical meetings, translating security requirements into actionable engineering tasks, and mentoring team members Experience or understanding of basic networking switch/router/firewall/IDS concepts. Experience in researching new Cybersecurity capabilities, performing trade studies, and providing expertise to peers and leadership. Experience with Linux systems and large system development Experience developing Cyber Security Solutions (in any form) as a team Desired Skills A desire to create new network and system capability and develop from design Cloud experience such as Kubernetes and containers Creative thinker with strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and a continuous learning mindset Knowledge of containers and securing the infrastructure through the cloud Experience in agile methodologies that highlight Atlassian tools, namely Jira and Confluence Experience in model-based system engineering concepts (MBSE) Proficiency with Cyber best practice security concepts, models, and methods, (e.g., zero trust architecture and maturity model, advanced authentication methods, STIG coding practices) Ability to communicate and work effectively with internal members and external customers Linux experience in scripting and/or development, e.g. Python, C, C++, Rust Strong communication and leadership skills to engage internal teams and external stakeholders Possess (or must obtain within 6 months of hiring) an approved DoD 8570 baseline certification for IAT Level II (Security+, GSEC, etc.) Additional Requirements A Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related engineering or IT field with 3 years of relevant experience or master’s degree and 2+ years of relevant cyber experience; Or 7 years of relevant experience. Must be able to obtain and keep a DoD Secret Clearance which means you must be a U.S. Citizen. Proactive/self-starter. Task driven with ability to work independently. Team player that takes ownership and develops relationships that foster team success. Job Full-Time Employee, 40 hours/week. Some remote work will be allowed.
