PHYSICIAN SPECIALIST - OPT D

Position Overview The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is inviting applications for a **Physician Specialist, Option D** at the Madden Mental Health Center in Hines, Illinois. The role involves serving as a staff psychiatrist, directing a caseload on an assigned inpatient pavilion during an assigned shift, ensuring that psychiatric treatment meets standards of care, and evaluating patients at intake. The position requires providing clinical direction to staff involved in direct care, offering backup coverage for other pavilions, and actively participating in medical committees, pavilion and program meetings, case evaluations, audits, and utilization review committees. The psychiatrist will sign certificates for involuntary patient admissions, testify in court, and attend all mandatory trainings. Essential Functions Serve as a staff psychiatrist for patients on an assigned inpatient pavilion during an assigned shift. Provide treatment to a caseload of patients on the assigned pavilion and shift. Offer clinical directions to staff involved in direct patient care. Deliver backup coverage for other pavilions. Participate as a member of medical committees, pavilion and program meetings, case evaluation, audit, and utilization review committees to provide psychiatric expertise in treatment, development, and related areas. Provide psychiatric services and consultation to other Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery hospitals via tele‑psychiatry and periodic on‑site case reviews. Sign certificates for involuntary patient admissions and testify in court. Attend and participate in all mandatory trainings.
