Medical Lab Scientist/Medical Lab Technician – Nights (7 on/7 off)St. Croix Health is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist/Medical Lab Technician to join our team! This is a full-time position (0.8 FTE). The Medical Lab Technician is responsible for performing phlebotomy, specimen collection, routine laboratory analysis and quality control testing. Performs laboratory duties with minimal supervision to care for a diverse population of patients of all ages.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Collect and Process Orders and SpecimensPerform phlebotomy and specimen collectionEnsure specimens are collected in appropriate containersAccurately label specimens per organization policy and procedureDocuments received, entered and released orders in LIS and EMRReceives minimal or no specimen rejection by testing staffPerforms Quality Control ChecksDocuments quality control results in QC logsTroubleshoot and resolve problemsResponsible for documenting problems and resolutions in troubleshooting logsReviews of feedback from Laboratory Lead and Laboratory managementManage Equipment Maintenance ProcessPerforms preventative maintenance on equipmentCaptures pertinent information in equipment maintenance logTroubleshoots equipment problemsDocuments all instrument troubleshooting in appropriate logContact appropriate party when equipment service is requiredPerforms Laboratory Testing, Reports Results Accurately and TimelyReports critical, urgent and significant values per department policyResponsible for documentation in LIS and EMRAccurately document data in critical value and turnaround time reportsOther Duties as AssignedParticipating in department quality improvement projectsKeeps work area neat and cleanOrder & restock suppliesAttend regular department meetingsCompletes required trainingOther duties as assigned based on SCRMC business needRequirementsEducation & Licensure:Graduate of a school qualified in teaching Medical Laboratory Technicians/Certified Laboratory AssistantsRegistered and/or certified MLT(ASCP), CLA (ASCP), RMT, AMT and/or NCACurrent BLS CertificationExperience:1-year prior experience preferredKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Excellent communication and listening skillsStrong critical thinking and problem-solving abilitiesFamiliar with standard laboratory methods, techniques, and equipmentAttention to detailExcellent customer service skillsDemonstrated ability to work independently with little direction and manage multiple demands and prioritiesPhysical RequirementsProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerProlonged periods of standing, bending, and reachingMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds at timesSt. Croix Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
