Senior Appraiser

Description Senior Real Estate Appraiser leads and completes complex commercial, industrial, multifamily, and specialty type valuations, from scope definition through delivery of USPAP‑compliant reports for the purpose of mortgage underwriting, acquisition/disposition, portfolio analysis, financial reporting, estate purposes, dispute resolution and other intended uses. Senior Appraisers receive an annual base $50,000 draw against commissions (except in certain high minimum‑wage markets such as NY, CA, WA). Commissions are offset against the draw and based on completed valuation, advisory and related services, with rates ranging from 40% to 52%. A portion of commissions may be paid in cash and a portion may be paid in equity, subject to award document terms. In addition, this position is eligible to receive a competitive benefits package. Conduct full appraisals, examining and evaluating commercial properties to establish market value. Perform market and comparable research, develop income, sales comparison, and cost approaches, conduct highest‑and‑best‑use analyses, and present and defend conclusions to clients, lenders, and counsel. Manage assignments, ensure QA/QC and regulatory compliance, mentor junior staff, and support proposals and business development. Make independent decisions and provide judgment in the development of appraisals for complex properties. Inspect properties and complete formal review responses as directed by senior staff. Engage directly in client meetings and maintain knowledge of current government regulations, zoning laws, and appraisal standards. Understand all necessary software programs used in the business and remain familiar with required data sources. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills, Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in real estate or related fields such as economics and finance; preference for MS or MBA in real estate. State‑appropriate Certified General Appraiser License. Minimum of 3–6 years of professional experience as a Commercial Real Estate Appraiser. Experience writing appraisal and appraisal reviews of complex commercial properties. Solid understanding of real property valuation concepts, commercial real estate terminology, and property tax jurisdictional processes. Knowledge of Argus preferred.
