Be part of our team that values a wide range of perspectives and is committed to shaping a better world with every product we create./ph3Location: Bedford Park, IL (Argo Plant)/h3pReports To: Safety Manager/ppAs a Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and providing leadership to the Argo Safety Programs including coordination of site security activities./ppWhat you will do:/pulliDevelop and deliver pertinent safety training (Permit training, STOP, LOTO, safety training fair, etc.). Manage, plan and execute Safety Month activities./liliMaintain contractor safety files and collect/categorize safety compliance data./liliProvide update/upkeep of the MSDS libraries and the Argo Plant Emergency Action plan manuals, as necessary./liliReview all Incident Investigations, participate in root cause analysis meetings and ensure appropriate follow-up on corrective actions./liliDirect the plant security program, procedures and personnel to ensure access control procedures are sufficient to provide for the physical security of plant assets; perform periodic review of security post orders with Security Manager. Maintain all aspects of the Plant Card Access Security System/liliLead/coordinate/execute monthly contractor safety meeting./liliCoordinate and plan shutdown activities as it relates to contractor entry and traffic; ensure site safety and food safety requirements are met prior to entry/liliParticipate in safety audits as required./liliCompile and distribute monthly reports to corporate./liliProvide support to the Manager, Safety and Security. Perform special projects and other miscellaneous duties as required/liliCoordinate plant-wide emergency drills, in conjunction with the Manager, Safety and Security/liliCoordinate and participate in unit mock-OSHA inspections. Participate as a member of the Site Wellness Committee, Accident Investigation Team, Safety Committee Team and Plant Crisis Management team./liliEngage employees in site safety process (STOP and safety committee involvement), including increased involvement and exposure for site safety committee and safety teams./liliDevelop and distribute safety event alerts as needed to ensure all employees are made aware of incidents/events both here and at other plants. Share safety best practices across plant sites. Provide plant with weekly toolbox talk materials and distribute to individual units./liliConduct New Employee Safety Orientation./liliAct as an administrative backup to the Nurse./liliCoordinate and manage Heath and Safety Projects as assigned./liliFollow and update Cority through completion./liliWork with other departmental resources (warehouse, maintenance, operations) in execution of successful HS programs./liliAssist with building capability of site resources to support implementation of HS programming./li/ulpWhat you will bring:/pulliBachelors degree or equivalent in experience in occupational safety in an industrial setting./liliMust be computer literate to effectively use current Microsoft Office software, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and other software programs./liliExperience in OSHA recordkeeping requirements and regulations./liliCertified in CPR, First Aid/AED and Bloodborne responder, a plus.
