Job Title: General Laborer Job Description This role supports daily operations in a prototype and low-volume production casting facility that specializes in rapid manufacturing of aluminum castings for a wide range of industries, including aerospace. You will perform a variety of hands-on tasks that keep production flowing smoothly, from assisting with packaging and machine operations to maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Responsibilities Assist with packaging machined castings in the Shipping and Receiving department to ensure products are prepared safely and accurately for delivery. Support unloading and cleaning of large 3D sand printing machines, following established procedures to maintain equipment performance and cleanliness. Assist machinists and other operators with complex set-ups that require two people, helping to position parts, tools, and materials safely and efficiently. Move high-value castings from one operation to the next with care and attention to detail to prevent damage and maintain workflow. Sweep, clean, and maintain the facility to support a safe, organized, and efficient work environment. Perform a variety of general labor tasks throughout the day as directed by supervisors to support production needs. Work 3rd shift hours from 11:00 PM to 9:30 AM, Monday through Friday, and be prepared for 10-hour shifts and a 6-day workweek as needed. Work some Saturdays as required to meet production demands and support customer schedules. Essential Skills Experience working in a manufacturing environment, with an understanding of how the manufacturing process operates. General labor experience, with the ability to perform multiple different tasks throughout the day. Ability to lift 40 pounds repetitively in a safe and controlled manner. Comfort working in a production setting with machinery and materials handling. Reliability and flexibility to work 3rd shift (11:00 PM – 9:30 AM) and extended hours, including some Saturdays. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in production or industrial environments. Comfort working around state-of-the-art machinery and equipment. Willingness to learn new tasks and support different areas of the facility as needed. Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area. Why Work Here? Work Environment The facility is a clean, modern manufacturing environment equipped with state-of-the-art machinery and equipment that supports multiple industries. The operation typically runs two shifts for a total of 20 hours per day, with first shift from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM and second shift from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM. This role is scheduled on 3rd shift from 11:00 PM to 9:30 AM, Monday through Friday, with 10-hour shifts and a current expectation of working 6 days per week for the foreseeable future. Some Saturdays are required as production needs demand, and there is flexibility and freedom to work overtime when needed. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and safe handling of high-value castings, with general labor tasks that involve standing, moving materials, and lifting up to 40 pounds repeatedly. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Livonia, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
