Job Title: Medical Office Assistant Job Description

This role provides front office support in a cardiology specialty practice, focusing on answering incoming calls, scheduling patient appointments, and delivering courteous, efficient service to patients and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming phone calls promptly and professionally, directing inquiries to the appropriate staff or department.
• Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments in accordance with practice guidelines and provider availability.
• Perform accurate data entry of patient information, appointments, and other administrative details into practice systems.
• Provide friendly and responsive customer service to patients, families, and other callers, addressing questions or routing them appropriately.
• Offer general administrative support to the medical office, such as organizing documents and assisting with front desk tasks.
• Maintain a neat and orderly reception and work area to support efficient patient flow.

Essential Skills

• Experience providing administrative support in an office or medical setting.
• Proficiency with data entry and basic computer use for scheduling and record updates.
• Strong customer service skills with a professional and courteous phone manner.
• Ability to manage multiple calls and appointment requests while maintaining accuracy.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• No professional license required for this position.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Comfort working in a specialty medical environment such as cardiology.
• Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with patients and clinical staff.
• Reliability and punctuality to support consistent office operations.

Work Environment

This position is based in a cardiology specialty office with a structured weekday schedule, typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to approximately 4:30–5:00 p.m. The role involves working at a front desk or administrative workstation, using phones and computer systems throughout the day, and interacting regularly with patients, clinical staff, and other team members in a professional healthcare setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fairfield, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
