About the Position

Job Title: CVICU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: 1 year of experience with cardiovascular patient population Description: Unit has 18 beds. Nurse to Patient Ratios are 1:1. Common diagnoses include open heart and complex thoracic and vascular patients. Patients are stabilized and supported by various devices. Experience with common and advanced cardiac surgeries is required. RNs are required to titrate drips including vasopressors and sedation. Charge nurse is present on each shift and takes an assignment. There are no patient care technicians on this unit. Hospitalists and Intensivists are on-site 24/7 in the unit. RNs must troubleshoot respiratory equipment as needed. There are no telemetry technicians on this unit; RNs need to read and interpret their own strips. The manager will create the schedule. Weekend requirements are every other weekend. Holiday requirements are every other or as needed based on unit needs. RNs may float to all inpatient units, excluding certain specialty areas. Scrub color is navy blue. Two shifts of unit-specific orientation are provided. Additional requests for time off will not be approved after submissions. The facility can cancel up to four shifts during the assignment duration. Charting is done using an electronic system. BSN is not required. Certification in NIHSS is also required.
