Gallery Assistant

Weschlers, the leading auction house for antiques and fine art in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, seeks a responsible, team-oriented Gallery Assistant for our Rockville, Maryland gallery. This role supports auctions, assists with gallery operations, and helps with behind-the-scenes tasks. We are looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious person eager to learn in a fast-paced, arts-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

Manage client inquiries in person, by telephone, and by email related to bidding, buying, and selling property in upcoming auctions.

Preparing and styling the gallery for auctions

Assisting with pickups, previews, and events

Unpacking, packing, and conducting inventory of property

Duties to be performed in full compliance with department standards, including teamwork, high level of client service, accuracy, attendance, and punctuality.

Support live auctions by assisting with fundamental auction-day tasks.

Skills & Attributes

Bachelors degree in business, arts administration, or equivalent experience.

1-3 years of experience in auction operations preferred

Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Strong client service orientation with professionalism and discretion.

Detail-oriented with excellent follow-up, multitasking, and time management abilities.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word and Excel).

Able to thrive in fast-paced environments, work under pressure, and meet strict deadlines.

Must be able to lift 35 to 50 lbs. and climb a ladder

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

Fluency in English necessary.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary: $40,0000-$45,000 annually, depending on qualifications, experience and skill set
