Role Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough evaluations for patients spanning pediatric, adult, and geriatric demographics via standardized assessments and observational methods.
- Create customized treatment plans to meet both immediate needs and long-term goals regarding communication, cognitive, or swallowing abilities.
- Deliver individualized speech therapy interventions aimed at enhancing communication, language fluency, voice quality, and swallowing functionality.
- Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team of physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, caregivers, and families to establish unified care strategies.
- Provide educational resources for patients and families, facilitating progress beyond clinical environments.
- Participate in occasional inpatient speech therapy evaluations and interventions, ensuring a smooth continuum of care throughout the treatment process.
- Maintain precise and timely documentation that aligns with state, federal, and organizational requirements.
- Keep abreast of evolving practices in the field through ongoing education and peer interaction.
Education Requirements
- A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) is required for those who are not yet ASHA-certified.
Certification Requirements
- State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist is mandatory.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
