Child Care Teacher

JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Child Care Teacher (Floater) DEPARTMENT: Child Care Classification: Non-Exempt CATEGORY: Essential DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for implementing classroom activities either in the absence of a teacher or on a daily basis in place of a teacher as needed. Design and follow a full schedule of activities and discover suitable teaching material Responsible for overall supervision and daily class functionality Balance your teaching between logical and social exercises Provide basic care and caregiving activities Use a wide range of teaching methods (stories, media, indoor or outdoor games, drawing etc) to enhance the child's abilities Support emotional wellbeing of the children Remain in constant communication with parents and update them on the progress of their children Observe children's interactions and promote the spirit of concord Identify behavioral problems and determine the right course of action Collaborate with other colleagues Adhere with teaching standards and safety regulations as established by organization policies and procedure Supervise children at all times - in classroom, on playground, on field trips, during parties, etc. Report all injuries/accidents occurring during shift to Center Director Be willing to gain more knowledge, experience, and training in the field of Early Childhood Development by attending Center staff meetings and local, state, regional, and national child care meetings/training. Maintain client, employee, and agency confidentiality. Maintain classroom in a clean and orderly manner. Other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS BS or AA in Early Childhood Development, Child Development Associate (CDA), Certificate of Mastery (CoM), Certified Childcare Professional (CCP), or willingness to obtain CDA/CoM/CCP within 18 months of hire. At least one year of experience as classroom teacher in child care setting Excellent knowledge of child development and up-to-date education methods Ability to create lesson plans Patience, flexibility and love for children Strong communication and time management skills Certificate in mandatory reporter, first aid and CPR or willing to obtain within the first month of employment. Be able to lift children assigned to your care multiple times daily Must pass enhanced background check SUPERVISION Supervised by the Child Care Center Director.
