Staff Accountant Professional Mojave, CA, US Salary Range: $85,600.00 To $128,400.00 Annually Scaled Composites is seeking a skilled Staff Accountant to join our Accounting team and support the company’s financial integrity, government compliance, and program financial performance. This role plays a key part in leading core accounting processes, strengthening internal controls, and providing analytical insights to program teams and leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting and effective decision‑making. We are a rapid prototyping and manufacturing facility, designing, building, and testing proof-of-concept and prototype vehicles. We have flown an average of one new aircraft type per year over our 40-plus year history such as Proteus, GlobalFlyer, SpaceShipOne, Model 401, and Stratolaunch. Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Leading and managing the monthly accounting close process. Supporting government regulatory compliance, including DCAA audit readiness and adherence to CAS/FAR requirements. Assisting Program teams with ad hoc reporting, program cost analysis, and financial insights. Driving continuous improvement of accounting procedures, internal controls, and financial reporting processes. Examining, analyzing, and interpreting complex financial data and presenting findings clearly to management. Recommending improvements to financial systems and reporting workflows. Acting as a backup for Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger functions as needed. Participating in special projects, research initiatives, and cross‑functional tasks as assigned. Contributing to maintaining audit readiness, documentation standards, and compliance across all financial operations. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline PLUS 4+ years of relevant accounting experience. Strong government contract accounting background, including CAS, FAR, and hands-on DCAA compliance preferred Solid understanding of project accounting concepts: contract types and funding/billing structures Proficient in computerized accounting systems; Deltek Costpoint strongly preferred Prior experience with Cognos 8 or similar reporting/query tools appreciated. Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles. Required Qualifications: Good verbal and written communication skills. Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
