The role requires frequent travel to company facilities in Freeport and other off-site locations as needed. A valid, unexpired driver's license is required to perform the essential functions of this position. Mileage incurred for business travel will be reimbursed in accordance with company policy.Location / Travel Information:This position is based at our LNG Facility in Freeport, TX, and requires frequent travel to our headquarters in downtown Houston. Additional travel to other local off-site locations may be required as business needs dictate. The position requires the incumbent to hold a valid, unexpired driver's license at all times to perform the essential functions of the job. Out-of-town travel is less than 10%.Primary Duties & Responsibilities:Strong knowledge of power distribution within an industrial facility from 480V to 138kVStrong knowledge of large synchronous machinesProvide engineering and technical expertise and apply advanced technical knowledge to identify electrical hazards, evaluate related risks, and assist in the development of effective risk control solutions at the company's operated assetsProvide engineering and technical expertise during the development and/or revision of electrical-related standards, procedures, guidelines, and plans as required to meet industry standards or regulatory requirementsProvide technical expertise for electrical incident investigationsDevelop and analyze electrical studies such as load flow, short circuit, and arc flashDevelop electrical safe operating and engineering practices at company assets that fully incorporate aspects of company electrical safety standards and NFPA 70EDevelop Key Performance Indicators (KPI) with an emphasis on monitoring and analysis for electrical systems for increased efficiency and reduced downtime between scheduled PMs and planned outagesDevelop complex electrical scope of work packages for the execution of electrical projects and/or multi-discipline projectsPerform and lead root cause analysis and develop cross-functional bad actor programsSupport maintenance with PM activitiesDevelop and/or review technical reportsSupport timely and accurate responses to Requests for Information (RFIs) and Engineering Service Requests (ESRs)Provide technical and commercial evaluations of engineering proposals and contractsDevelop multidisciplinary Management of Change packages (MOCs) to ensure quality documentation and efficient approval and executionDevelop condition-based monitoring programs for electrical assetsMaintain interfaces with regulators and technical institutionsDevelop and manage complex contracting strategies and partnershipsDevelop and maintain internal design standards, design specifications, and provide input to approved vendor listsProvide technical guidance and mentoring to junior and entry-level engineersEssential Functions:Knowledge of Engineering systems, calculations, applications and operations methods and materials, and engineering application of computersAbility to comprehend design specifications, standards, and contractsAbility to communicate clearly in verbal and written formAbility to conduct efficient meetingsAbility to develop comprehensive scopes of workEducation, Certification & Experience:Minimum Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in EngineeringMinimum Experience Required: 15+ Years of Electrical Engineering Experience, 5+ years of experience in an operating industrial facilityCompetencies:Detail-oriented, professional, and reliableOutstanding written and verbal communication skillsProficiency in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation softwarePossess strong organizational and time management skillsAbility to prioritize in order to meet deadlinesIndependently initiates and executes complex initiatives and drives breakthrough programs across multiple technical and business areasRecognized technical expert in the companyMentor to technical staffWork Environment:Operates in a professional office environment within or outside of an industrial plant environmentRoutinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers with scanner and fax, and filing cabinetsMust be able to wear all necessary PPE equipment to perform job functionsPossible exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditionsPossible exposure to moving mechanical parts and electrical circuitsPossible exposure to constant, or intermittent sounds of a pitch level sufficient to cause marked distractionPhysical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required.
