CVOR RN Job Breakdown

Shift: Day 3x12s (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Weekly Hours: 36 hrs/week
Charting: EPIC
Staffing Ratio: 1:2
Scrubs: Provided by Facility

Core Responsibilities

• Cardiac Surgery Scrubbing & Circulating: ~22–24 hrs/week
  Independently scrub and circulate complex cardiovascular surgical procedures.
• Advanced Cardiac Procedures: ~8–10 hrs/week
  Support CABGs, valve repairs/replacements, heart transplants, LVADs, and aortic dissections.
• Pre/Post-Operative Care & Documentation: ~3–4 hrs/week
  Patient preparation, intraoperative documentation, specimen handling, and surgical team coordination.
• Call Coverage: Variable
  Participate in cardiac surgery call rotation and emergency cases.

Key Requirements

• PA or Compact RN License required at submission
• 3+ years CVOR experience required
• Must Scrub and Circulate
• First-time travelers accepted with strong CVOR experience
• EPIC experience preferred

Scheduling & Call

• 3x12-hour day shifts
• 5 call shifts per month
• Call days/hours vary
• Weekend coverage through call rotation
• No holiday requirement

Floating

• May float to Main OR when cardiac volume is low
• Common float areas:
  • General Surgery
  • Urology
  • ENT
• Average floating frequency: approximately once per week (may vary based on CVOR volume)

⭐ Ideal Candidate Experienced CVOR RN with at least 3 years of recent cardiac surgery experience who can confidently scrub and circulate advanced cardiac cases including CABGs, valve surgeries, transplants, LVADs, and dissections. Candidates with vascular and thoracic experience will be highly competitive. Flexible team players comfortable with call and occasional Main OR floating are preferred.
