Position Summary

The Corporate Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving safety culture, policies, procedures, and performance across all operations. This position serves as the company's senior safety leader, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, customer requirements, and company standards while supporting operational excellence and workforce development.

The Corporate Safety Director will partner with executive leadership, operations managers, project teams, and field personnel to promote a culture where safety is a core value and a critical component of business success. This role provides strategic direction, oversight, coaching, and accountability for all safety-related activities across the organization.

Compensation

• $140,000 - $155,000 /Salary - DOE
• Up to $15,000 potential bonus
• Relocation Allowance TBD - If needed

Reporting Structure

• Reports to: Vice President of Operations

• Safety Coordinators (as assigned)

Key Responsibilities/Strategic Leadership

• Develop and execute corporate safety strategy and annual safety improvement plans.
• Establish safety goals, objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with company business objectives.
• Lead initiatives that promote a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement mindset.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership regarding safety performance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
• Safety Program Management
• Maintain and continuously improve the corporate safety management system.
• Develop, implement, and update safety policies, procedures, standards, and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards.
• Standardize safety practices across all business units and project locations.
• Field Operations Support
• Conduct regular project site audits, inspections, and safety assessments.
• Partner with operations leadership to identify and mitigate project risks.
• Provide guidance on complex safety issues involving industrial construction, electrical work, steel erection, rigging, crane operations, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, and fall protection.
• Support pre-construction planning and risk assessments for major projects.
• Incident Prevention and Investigation
• Lead investigations of serious incidents, near misses, and significant safety events.
• Conduct root cause analyses and develop corrective action plans.
• Monitor trends and implement preventative measures to reduce risk.
• Ensure lessons learned are communicated throughout the organization.

Training and Workforce Development

• Develop and oversee safety training programs for craft professionals, supervisors, and managers.
• Ensure compliance with required certifications and regulatory training.
• Support apprenticeship, NCCER, and workforce development initiatives.
• Mentor operations leaders in effective safety leadership practices.

Compliance and Risk Management

• Maintain regulatory compliance across all operating locations.
• Manage OSHA interactions, inspections, and reporting requirements.
• Coordinate workers' compensation safety initiatives and return-to-work programs.
• Support insurance audits and risk management activities.
• Performance Measurement
• Track and report leading and lagging safety indicators.
• Develop executive-level dashboards and performance reports.
• Analyze trends and recommend improvement initiatives.
• Benchmark company performance against industry standards.
• Customer and Business Development Support
• Participate in customer safety reviews, contractor qualification processes, and pre-bid meetings.
• Support business development efforts by demonstrating safety capabilities and performance.
• Assist in maintaining customer-approved contractor status.

Qualifications/Education

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and industry experience may be considered.
• Experience
• Minimum 10 years of progressive safety leadership experience.
• Minimum 5 years in industrial construction, heavy industrial maintenance, or specialty contracting environments.
• Experience supporting electrical, mechanical, steel erection, and industrial construction operations preferred.
• Proven success leading safety programs across multiple projects and locations.
• Certifications

• Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
• Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST)
• OSHA 500 Trainer
• Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
• Certified Instructional Trainer (optional)

Physical Requirements

• Ability to travel to project sites throughout the operating regions.
• Ability to access active construction and industrial facilities.
• Ability to wear required PPE and safely navigate industrial environments.
