GENERAL MANAGER

Playa Bowls is looking for an experienced, energetic General Manager to lead one of our Company-Owned Shops in the Central Jersey Shore area.

The General Manager owns the day-to-day success of the shop — delivering an exceptional guest experience, driving financial performance, and building a strong, engaged team that reflects the Playa Bowls brand, culture, and standards.

This role leads all aspects of shop operations, including food quality, guest satisfaction, staffing, scheduling, financial performance, inventory, safety, and compliance, while coaching and developing a team of Assistant Managers, Shift Leaders, and Team Members.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Lead & Develop Your Team

• Manage, coach, and mentor Assistant Managers, Shift Leaders, and Team Members.
• Create a supportive, high-energy, performance-driven shop culture.
• Manage Team Member scheduling to optimize labor and support operational needs.
• Lead training, performance management, and employee development.
• Assess staffing needs and recruit new talent through company recruiting platforms, job fairs, and other recruiting methods.
• Partner with Human Resources to support the onboarding process for new hires.

Deliver an Exceptional Guest Experience

• Ensure consistent product quality, flavor, portioning, and presentation.
• Maintain high standards for hospitality and guest service.
• Address and resolve guest concerns professionally and promptly.
• Support the team during peak periods and step into food preparation or service as needed.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve service, efficiency, and the overall guest experience.

Drive Shop Performance

• Monitor payroll, budgets, expenditures, and overall financial performance.
• Achieve company-established business and operational goals.
• Manage point-of-sale operations, cash handling, deposits, and related procedures.
• Establish and monitor performance standards for both Team Members and guest service.

Own Day-to-Day Operations

• Oversee opening and closing procedures and ensure all required operational records are accurately maintained.
• Manage food and beverage deliveries and verify product quality and order accuracy.
• Conduct weekly inventory counts and maintain appropriate stock levels.
• Order and manage food, supplies, equipment, and operational resources.
• Coordinate vendors and service providers to keep the shop running smoothly.

Maintain Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with health, safety, sanitation, and fire regulations.
• Maintain all required sanitation and food-safety documentation.
• Coordinate necessary maintenance and repair services, including waste removal and pest control.
• Ensure company and government-required documentation is completed accurately and on time.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Proven restaurant, retail, or hospitality management experience; fast-casual or multi-unit experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of guest service and the ability to create a consistently positive guest experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, motivate, and develop a team.
• Experience managing labor, scheduling, inventory, and financial performance.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to balance hands-on shop leadership with the business and administrative responsibilities of running a successful location.
• A positive, energetic leadership style that aligns with Playa Bowls' mission and values.

SCHEDULE & POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• This is a full-time, exempt, on-site position.
• General Managers typically work 40–45 hours per week , including some weekends and holidays as business needs dictate.
• Must successfully complete the required Playa Bowls Food Safety certification within three months of employment.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for prolonged periods.
• Must occasionally be able to lift or otherwise move approximately 25–40 pounds.
• Must be able to retrieve items from high and low shelving, refrigerators/freezers, and under counters.

What began with a pair of blenders, a patio table, and a fridge has grown into a 350+ unit operator and franchisor of a leading fast-casual restaurant concept. Playa Bowls added 85 locations in 2025 and is on target to add 90+ new locations in 2026.
