This hybrid role offers the opportunity to serve as a trusted legal advisor on real estate title insurance matters, providing title underwriting guidance, risk analysis, and transactional support to internal teams, agents, and customers.The position is ideal for a seasoned attorney who brings deep knowledge of commercial and residential real estate law, title insurance underwriting, and regulatory compliance, along with a collaborative and solutions-oriented mindset. The successful candidate will bring strong judgment, customer-centric communication skills, and the ability to manage a diverse pipeline of real estate transactions while applying title insurance underwriting standards and company guidelines.Candidate ProfileJD from an ABA-accredited law school required.Active Bar Admission in New York, in good standing.8-10 years of substantive experience in title insurance underwriting.General understanding of the process of title underwriting real estate transactions for the issuance of title insurance policies.Ability to interpret and apply title insurance underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits.Solid understanding of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of NY real estate transactions, title insurance and closing settlement processes.Must be familiar with applicable state NY real estate law, including federal and state regulations.Strong relationship-building skills with internal stakeholders and externally, with clients and others.Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage significant transaction volume, ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow up in a timely manner.Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.Effective communicator with strong negotiation skills, who can deliver guidance with clarity, professionalism, tact, and diplomacy.Strong analytical skills, detail oriented, with the ability to assess risk and provide practical solutions.Collaborative mindset with ability to act decisively when needed.Creative, solution-oriented approach to resolving complex title challenges.Ability to work hybrid 3 days a week in office in Tarrytown, NY.Conduct Continuing Legal Education with clients.Willingness to travel occasionally with sales agents in New York market area.What You'll DoProvide title insurance underwriting support, counsel, and authorization to company personnel, agents, and customers, related to the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies.Utilize title insurance underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits to underwrite the issuance of title insurance.Provide guidance to company personnel in the performance of real estate settlement services.Issue title insurance underwriting standards and guidelines in accordance with established company processes.Prepare and present educational content (in-person and/or remote) for the benefit of company personnel, agents and/or customers.Other duties as assigned.Why Join Us?This company's Agency Division is dedicated to providing its policy-issuing agents with resources, services and underwriting guidance needed to achieve new levels of success.
