Description

American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Stepdown RN with an active IL RN license and PICU experience preferred for a night shift assignment caring for technology-dependent pediatric patients.

Details

• Pediatric stepdown unit within a children's hospital, 39 beds, encompassing all specialties
• Patient population ranges from 2 weeks to 18 years old, with 50-60% requiring some form of technology dependence
• Acute care unit for patients with chronic illness, including tracheostomies and chronic ventilator dependence, no drips, surgical, or transitional patients
• Patient ratios of 1:3-4
• Night shift, offered as 3x12 or 4x12 schedules (19:00-7:30)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs
• Open to block scheduling
• Meditech EMR used

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required in hand at time of consideration (compact licenses not accepted)
• BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• 1:4 patient ratio experience required
• Vent, tracheostomy, and G-tube experience required
• Meditech charting experience required
• Flu vaccine required, medical and religious exemptions accepted

Additional Information

• Provide respiratory and gastrointestinal care including ventilator management, tracheostomy care, and gastric tube management
• Scrubs of any color accepted as long as neat and clean, pediatric-themed scrubs encouraged
• Free parking available in shared public lots
• Facility will not consider candidates who were previously employed as permanent staff at this location or affiliated clinics
• RTO must be approved and included in the contract prior to start date, with no additions after the contract begins
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Pending license candidates accepted
• First-time travelers not accepted for this position
