Director of Accounting

Operating across multiple regions, the organization partners with local stakeholders to strengthen systems of care and expand access to critical services. Position Overview Our client is seeking a Fractional Director of Accounting to provide interim leadership during a transitional period. This individual will operate in a hands‑on capacity, ensuring continuity across accounting operations, financial reporting, and audit readiness. This is a high‑impact role requiring someone who can step in quickly, assess the current state, and drive execution with minimal oversight. Key Responsibilities Lead the month‑end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting Review and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards Oversee full‑cycle accounting operations, including AP, AR, and general ledger Manage and support accounting staff to ensure accuracy and efficiency of deliverables Serve as a key point of contact for accounting and financial inquiries Support external audit processes and Form 990 preparation Identify and implement process improvements and operational efficiencies Maintain and optimize accounting systems, ensuring strong internal controls Qualifications Proven experience as a Controller, Director of Accounting, or similar leadership role Prior experience in a nonprofit environment strongly preferred Expertise in month‑end close, financial reporting, and audit support Experience with Form 990 preparation and nonprofit compliance highly preferred Background overseeing AP, AR, and GL functions and managing accounting teams Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 required Ability to quickly assess needs and deliver results in a fast‑paced environment Ideal Candidate Hands‑on leader with the ability to balance strategy and execution Comfortable operating independently in a fractional or interim capacity Process‑oriented with a track record of improving accounting workflows Mission‑driven, with an appreciation for community‑focused organizations We will be accepting applications for this position until July 31, 2026 Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled To read our Candidate Privacy Information Statement, which explains how we will use your information, please navigate to The Company will consider qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and/or security clearance requirements, including, as applicable: The California Fair Chance Act Los Angeles City Fair Chance Ordinance Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers #J-18808-Ljbffr
