Product Engineer, DC Power

Position Summary: The Product Engineer is the customer-facing technical authority for Vertiv's Data Center DC Power portfolio. Residing within Engineering and working closely with Product Management, this role bridges product strategy and execution — translating customer requirements into actionable engineering specifications while providing technical leadership across Sales, Service, and Account Management.Each Product Engineer will own one dedicated product segment:800V Sidecar Solutions (Air & Liquid Cooled)800V Power Center SolutionsIn-Rack Power Shelves & Solutions (Air & Liquid Cooled)Key Responsibilities:Gather and translate customer technical requirements into clear inputs for product development teamsLead the technical aspects of RFQ proposals, including concept development, schematics, block diagrams, and MCAD/ECAD filesProvide input to product design reviews and aid specification alignment – ensuring customer needs match engineering’s interpretationCreate and oversee customer-facing technical documentation (user manuals, application guides, submittal packages, technical bulletins) to ensure accuracy and clarityDeliver product training to internal and external customers including Sales, Service, and ManufacturingProvide technical field support for installed products, acting as liaison between customers and EngineeringCommunicate market and customer feedback to drive product development via stage-gate processCollaborate with Product Management on product strategy, technical questions, and roadmap inputSupport trade shows, customer site visits, and technical presentationsMaintain product configurator BOM structure and support NPDI engineering deliverablesRequirements:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Mechanical Engineering (BSME), or Systems Engineering5–7 years of relevant experience (2–4 years considered for exceptional candidates)Excellent written and verbal communication — able to convey complex technical information clearly and conciselySelf-directed with the ability to manage multiple priorities across stakeholdersProficiency generating schematics, block diagrams, and technical illustrationsAbility to respond to technical support and execution tasks quickly and accurately under time pressureComfortable engaging directly with customers at all levels — from field technicians to engineering leadershipStrong analytical thinking with the ability to evaluate customer applications and propose technically sound solutionsKnowledge codes and standards such as UL, IEC,NEC, and NFPA 855Ability to understand both electrical and mechanical design elements for power infrastructure productsPreferred Qualifications:DC power or data center power backgroundApplications or field engineering experienceVisio, ECAD, or Pro/E proficiencyFamiliarity with power conversion25% travel required — domestic and internationalThe successful candidate will embrace Vertiv’s Core Principles & Behaviors to help execute our Strategic Priorities.OUR CORE PRINCIPLES: Safety.
