Description:

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, you will contribute professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients through the application of the nursing process. You will promote the use of evidence-based practice through the nursing process, protocols, and procedures. Your responsibilities will include assessing patient status through interviews, observations, and physical assessments of actual problems and outcomes. You will develop an individualized plan of care using a collaborative approach with the patient and healthcare team. You will use appropriate interventions identified in the plan of care to achieve expected patient outcomes. Throughout your shift, you will systematically evaluate and document patient progress toward expected outcomes and modify the plan of care based on evaluations. Completion of required documentation, including patient charts and event reports, is essential. You will demonstrate professional accountability for your practice by seeking resources and continuing self-development. Technical knowledge of equipment will be necessary, along with the ability to troubleshoot when problems arise. You will acquire and maintain current knowledge and skills in evidence-based nursing practice. Promoting professional development for yourself and team members is expected. You will share clinical knowledge through teaching and in response to the learning needs of others. A practical problem-solving approach to patient moving and handling issues will be demonstrated as applicable. You will possess the necessary knowledge and skills to obtain adequate lab specimens for testing. Performing patient bedside lab testing and associated quality control in compliance with medical provider's orders and hospital procedures will be required. You will coordinate the interdisciplinary care of the patient through collaboration with team members and utilize additional resources when necessary. Analyzing clinical situations will be conducted systematically, and you will act to obtain resources or correct problems to meet or exceed expected outcomes or patient needs. Recognizing the need for assistance and utilizing resources, including physician and nurse consultations, in a timely manner is essential. You will demonstrate ownership and persistence to ensure problems are resolved in the best way possible. You will manage non-complex and some complex patient management assignments with some turnover in assignments. Consistent prioritization of work based on changes in patient condition and other unanticipated interruptions will be required. You will identify and utilize team resources to solve identified problems or needs. Collaboration with the healthcare team in the organization of tasks for patient care from admission to discharge according to the plan of care will be expected to meet identified outcomes. You will work with other team members in delegating tasks and activities appropriately. Providing goal-focused shift reports will be a part of your responsibilities. Advocating with physicians on the patient's behalf, when necessary, is crucial. Utilizing communication and teamwork strategies aimed at promoting high team performance and achieving optimal patient outcomes and unit productivity will be a priority. Choosing an appropriate and meaningful communication style when interacting with others will be necessary. You will give and accept constructive feedback from peers. Assessing and choosing teaching strategies that meet the patient's and family's age-specific needs will be essential. Adapting teaching strategies based on the patient's response, readiness to learn, and level of comprehension is required.
