LAB TECHNOLOGIST. Job in Weymouth LilyLifestyle Jobs

South Shore Health is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technician to work the Day shift, every other weekend, rotating through hematology to maintain competency. Location: 85 Columbian Street, Weymouth, MA 02190. Compensation: $29.29 - $39.42 hourly. Responsibilities Test Performance a. Perform accurate and appropriate testing of specimens according to established procedures. b. Evaluate specimens for acceptability and investigate unacceptable specimens. c. Organize workload for maximum efficiency. d. Verify accuracy of results before reporting. e. Handle specimens according to appropriate storage temperature requirements. f. Notify Chemistry supervisor of any analytical variances. Test Result Reporting a. Report test results in a timely manner according to protocol. b. Document critical value notifications in accordance with established criteria. c. Correct erroneous results per policy and document corrective actions. Laboratory Quality Control a. Perform appropriate QC for each test procedure. b. Analyze QC results and report discrepancies to supervisor. Instrument Maintenance a. Perform scheduled maintenance and calibration on instruments. b. Document maintenance and calibration procedures. Troubleshooting a. Follow established troubleshooting procedures for instruments, reagents, and specimen problems. b. Notify supervisor immediately if problems cannot be resolved. Safety and Precautions a. Wear required PPE when handling specimens. b. Follow safety policies for chemical and biological hazards. c. Report safety hazards and dispose of hazardous waste properly. Competency Demonstration a. Maintain competency in assigned work areas and complete required CAP surveys. b. Participate in continuing education and departmental competency programs. Work Area Maintenance a. Maintain supplies and restock as needed. Training and Orientation a. Orient new employees and students to laboratory procedures and policies. Reliability and Coverage a. Perform duties required for relief during supervisor’s absence. Technology Advancement a. Participate in recommendation and selection of new technologies. Safety Awareness a. Foster a culture of safety and comply with laboratory safety policies. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a relevant science (preferred). 1 year clinical laboratory internship preferred. MT (ASCP) or MT eligible (ASCP equivalent). Eligible for Medical Technologist Certification (MTE-ASCP) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) ASCP. Work Schedule Day shift, every other weekend.
