Physician Assistant

Position Summary Under general supervision of a physician, the Physician Assistant is responsible for providing varied medical services, including obtaining complete medical history and performing a physical examination; ordering and interpreting laboratory tests and imaging studies; formulating a diagnosis and treatment plan; prescribing and/or dispensing medication; assisting in surgery or other invasive procedures; rounding on admitted patients; counseling patients and families; and other patient care duties. The role may involve any patient care duties as deemed appropriate by the attending physician and consistent with applicable law and hospital regulations. Position: Physician Assistant Department: Cardiology Schedule: Full Time. Essential Responsibilities / Duties Management and peri‑procedural care of outpatient cardiac catheterization patients. Primary role as Valve Program Coordinator, including coordination of the Cardiac Valve Clinic in concert with Cardiac Surgery. Navigate patients through valve/structural heart work‑ups and oversee administrative duties involving the structural heart registry and follow‑up. Provide medical services: obtain history, perform physical examination, order and interpret laboratory tests and imaging studies, formulate diagnosis and treatment plan, prescribe and dispense medication, counsel patients and families, and perform other patient care duties. Job Requirements Education: Must hold at least a bachelor’s degree and be a graduate of a PA program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC‑PA) or its predecessor. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must be National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA) PANCE eligible at start and eligible for PA licensure in the State of Massachusetts. Documentation of a Massachusetts PA license and initial NCCPA certification is required upon hire. If prescribing medications, Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration and federal DEA Controlled Substance Registration are required. Experience: Prior experience in a similar clinical setting/specialty is preferred. Knowledge & Skills: Must be self‑directed, demonstrate initiative and professionalism, exercise expert clinical judgment, and function independently. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English are required to convey complex medical information to patients, families, physicians, staff, and community health workers. Preference for candidates with exceptional problem‑solving and conflict‑resolution skills. Experience or interest in caring for diverse populations with varying health literacy is encouraged. Compensation & Benefits Compensation Range: $112,000.00–$162,500.00. The base pay is determined by education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures relevant to the position, as well as internal and market considerations.
