Senior Systems DevOps Engineer

Job SummaryThe Senior Systems DevOps Engineer will support the Systems Test Automation team responsible for the Omnipod ecosystem, including the Pod, PDM, CGM integrations, and Cloud platforms. This role focuses on maintaining and enhancing CI/CD infrastructure, Bamboo and Jenkins environments, test automation frameworks, and hardware-based laboratory systems used for automated end-to-end testing. The ideal candidate will have strong DevOps expertise, experience with automation and infrastructure management, and the ability to improve and standardize existing processes while supporting both software and hardware testing environments. The position is based in Acton, MA and requires a minimum of three days onsite each week. The individual in this position will collaborate closely with Systems Automation, Systems Design Verification, Systems Engineering, and Quality teams to define and execute the Systems DevOps strategy, roadmap, priorities, and execution plans. The Senior Systems DevOps Engineer will drive the development of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code solutions, and automated test environments that enable efficient system-level automation across multiple product platforms and releases.The successful candidate will serve as a technical leader responsible for advancing Systems Automation DevOps capabilities, improving operational efficiency, ensuring infrastructure reliability, and promoting standardization of tools, processes, and best practices across the organization. This role requires strong technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration.ResponsibilitiesDesign,implement,maintain,andoptimizeCI/CDpipelinestosupportautomatedbuild,test,deployment,andreleaseprocesses.Administer,monitor,andtroubleshootLinux-baseddevelopment,test,andproductionenvironments.DevelopandmaintainInfrastructureasCode(IaC),automationframeworks,scripts,andtoolstoimproveoperationalefficiencyandsystemreliability.LeadcontainerizationandorchestrationinitiativesusingtechnologiessuchasDockerandKubernetestoimprovescalability,consistency,anddeploymentefficiency.Design,deploy,andsupportMQTT-basedmessaginginfrastructure,includingbrokers,agents,andcommunicationservices.ManageandenhanceDevOpsplatforms,deploymentsystems,andtestautomationinfrastructuresupportingSystemsIntegrationandlaboratoryenvironments.CollaboratewithSoftwareDevelopment,QA,SystemsEngineering,Operations,andITteamstodeliverscalable,secure,andreliabledeploymentandtestingsolutions.Supportlaboratoryinfrastructure,includingnetworkconnectivity,servers,storagesystems,andhardware-basedtestenvironments.Driveplatformreliabilitythroughmonitoring,observability,alerting,logging,performancetuning,andproactivemaintenance.Leadincidentresponse,rootcauseanalysis,andcorrectiveactionstoimprovesystemstability,availability,andrecoverycapabilities.Manageapplicationreleasesandcoordinatedeploymentactivitiesacrossdevelopment,testing,andproductionenvironments.EstablishandpromoteDevOpsbestpracticesforcodeintegration,deploymentautomation,configurationmanagement,security,andsystemmonitoring.Evaluateandimplementimprovementstoarchitecture,scalability,resilience,disasterrecovery,andoperationalreadiness.Review,enhance,andextendexistingtools,CI/CDpipelines,andtestautomationframeworks.Createandmaintaintechnicaldocumentation,includingarchitecturediagrams,deploymentprocedures,operationalrunbooks,andtroubleshootingguides.Developinnovativetestingmethodologiesandproviderecommendationstoimproveproductquality,systemperformance,anddesignrobustness.Providetechnicalleadership,mentorship,andguidancetoengineerswhilesupportingprojectplanning,estimation,andexecution.Ensurecompliancewithcompanyqualitystandards,policies,procedures,andapplicableregulatoryrequirements.Basic Qualification:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.At least 8 years of experience in DevOps Engineering, Software Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Infrastructure Engineering, or a related discipline.At least 5 years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and DevOps workflows.At least 3 years of experience developing, integrating, and troubleshooting embedded systems, development boards (e.g., Arduino, Raspberry Pi), and hardware/software interfaces supporting automated testing and system integration.At least 3 years of experience integrating Android and iOS devices into automated testing and CI/CD environments.Strong programming and scripting skills in Python and Java.Experience with Linux-based systems, source control, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Bamboo.Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.PreferredQualificationsAdvancedLinuxandmacOSadministrationexperience.ExperiencewithcloudplatformssuchasAWS,Azure,orGoogleCloud.Hands-onexperiencewithInfrastructureasCode(IaC)toolssuchasTerraform,Ansible,orCloudFormation.Experiencewithcontainerizationandorchestrationtechnologies,includingDockerandKubernetes.Experiencedesigning,deploying,andsupportingMQTT-basedmessagingsolutionsindistributedenvironments.Experiencebuildingandmaintaininglarge-scaleautomatedtesting,validation,andhardwareautomationenvironments.Experienceintegratingembeddedhardware,mobiledevices,andcloudservicesintoautomatedworkflows.Strongknowledgeofobservability,monitoring,logging,reliabilityengineering,andGitOpspractices.Experienceflashing,configuring,andtroubleshootingembeddedsystemsanddevelopmentboards.KnowledgeofAndroidand/oriOSplatforms,includingXcodeandmobilebuildautomation.Knowledgeofcybersecurityprinciplesandsecuresoftwaredeliverypractices.Experienceworkinginregulatedenvironments,includingFDA,ISO13485,IEC62304,orothermedicaldevicestandards.ExperienceleveragingAI-assisteddevelopment,automation,andtroubleshootingtoolstoimproveengineeringproductivity.Demonstratedtechnicalleadership,mentoring,andexperienceleadingsmallcross-functionalteams.PhysicalRequirementsAbilitytooccasionallyliftandmoveequipmentweighingupto20lbs.Abilitytoreachoverheadwhenworkingwithlaboratoryandtestequipment.Travel&WorkLocationRequirementsMinimaltravelrequired.HybridpositionbasedinActon,MA.Mustbeabletoworkonsiteaminimumofthreedaysperweek.Additional Information: Compensation & Benefits: For U.S.-based positions only, the annual base salary range for this role is $102,400.00 - $153,550.00 This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation.
