Shift Information

This position is for a full-time weekend schedule, working Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights from 7 PM to 7 AM. Holiday coverage may be required if a holiday falls on the weekend.

Minimum Experience

No prior experience is required for this role.

Certification Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification required.
• Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) certification preferred.

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating nursing care for patients of all ages who present to the Emergency Department, facilitating care from initial assessment through treatment and discharge. This role encompasses all aspects of direct patient care and involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Essential Job Duties

• Plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive patient care across all age groups.
• Perform triage according to the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) 5 level triage process.
• Document nursing care and patient responses in compliance with legal and medical standards.
• Collaborate effectively with healthcare providers, patients, and ancillary services.
• Manage care needs of multiple patients and prioritize effectively to enhance patient flow.
• Communicate patient needs succinctly and advocate for patients through effective dialogue with healthcare teams.
• Engage in professional development activities and complete required education and in-services timely.
• Assess patient and family knowledge and discharge needs to provide appropriate education.
• Monitor life-support equipment and administer treatments, including IV fluids and medications.
• Respond to emergency situations calmly and efficiently, directing team members as necessary.
• Ensure maintenance and availability of medical equipment and supplies.
• Participate in educational initiatives for pre-hospital emergency providers and others.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree in nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Must hold and maintain a valid Registered Nursing license in Wisconsin or possess active Compact Licensure.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in patient care.
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is preferred.
