Job Title: Pharmacist Profession: Pharmacy Specialty: Pharmacy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 10H Nights Hours per Shift: 9:00 PM - 7:30 AM Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Current Illinois Pharmacist License or Letter of Authority from Department of Professional Regulation in State of Illinois Certifications: BLS Certification Must-Have: None Description: This position is responsible for helping patients utilize medications effectively. The pharmacist ensures that the right patient receives the correct drug in the proper amount at the right time. All doses must be appropriate to treat the patient's condition. Responsibilities include producing and distributing products with accuracy and efficiency. The pharmacist monitors drug therapy regimens for contraindications, including drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose. Recommendations for changes or alternatives are made as needed. The use of pharmacokinetic concepts is required to prescribe appropriate drug therapies that necessitate dosage adjustments per hospital protocol. The pharmacist recommends appropriate laboratory tests and monitors values to determine the attainment of therapeutic efficacy without the development of toxicities or side effects. Detecting and reporting suspected adverse drug reactions accurately and in a timely manner is essential. This position requires providing services to various age populations, including neonate through geriatric. Delivery of care must demonstrate an understanding of the functional and developmental age of the individuals served. The pharmacist will be working with one other pharmacist on a team. The position involves working 7 days on and 7 days off.
