You won't be working a traditional group-home schedule. Instead, you'll provide individualized support based on the person's needs while helping them maintain their home, participate in the community, manage appointments, prepare meals, and build independence.What makes this role different?You will work 22 hours per week, but your schedule is flexible.The position requires you to have physical contact with the person served 7 days a week, but not every day is a full workday.3 days per week:Cleaning and maintaining their homeGrocery shopping and meal preparationCommunity outings and activitiesAttending medical appointmentsMedication assistanceSupporting daily living skills and independence4 other days per week:You'll complete a brief in-person check-in with the individual. These check-ins are approximately 20 minutes and are simply about making physical contact, ensuring they're doing well, and providing the support needed that day.Flexible schedulingYour 22 hours can be scheduled flexibly between 9:00 AM and 11:00 PM, based on the needs of the person served.There is no traditional Monday-Friday, 8-4 schedule. Instead, your schedule will vary based on what support is needed and when it makes the most sense for the individual.This could be a great fit if you:Want a part-time DSP position with a flexible scheduleEnjoy working one-on-one rather than in a busy group-home environmentAre dependable and comfortable committing to a daily check-inEnjoy helping someone live as independently as possibleLike variety rather than doing the same thing every dayAre comfortable assisting with household tasks, meals, appointments, medication support and community activitiesWant to build a meaningful relationship with the person you supportOne important thing to knowBecause this is an Intensive Apartment/SIL program, the biggest requirement is consistency. You must be able to physically check in with the person served every day, 7 days a week.The schedule is flexible, but the daily commitment is not.If you are looking for a traditional part-time schedule where you work only 2-3 days per week, this probably isn't the right position.If you're looking for a flexible role where you can make a meaningful difference in someone's life while helping them live independently, we'd love to hear from you.QualificationsTransportation RequirementThis position requires employees to drive as part of their Dungarvin duties, including transporting the person served when needed.Must be willing and able to use a personal vehicle to transport the person servedEmployees must have a valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record, a reliable vehicle, and required personal automobile insurance.The ability to meet Dungarvin's vehicle and insurance requirements is required for this position.Additional Qualifications:Must be 18 years of age or olderPrevious education and/or experience providing residential or support services to people with developmental disabilities is preferredA sincere desire to provide individualized support to people with developmental disabilitiesAbility to use good judgment, follow guidance, and prioritize responsibilitiesAbility to work effectively as part of a team and maintain consistent, quality supportStrong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and other members of the support teamComfortable using computer software and technology applications required for the position; training will be provided during orientationAdditional InformationPay: $17.00/hour | Hours: 22 hours/week | Location: Milwaukee, WI | Program: Supported Independent Living - Intensive ApartmentCome help someone live life on their own terms.At Dungarvin, our work is about Respect.
