Our operations are in West Columbia, SC and Glen Allen, VA, allowing us to conveniently serve our member-owners, the electric cooperatives, as well as municipal and investor-owned utilities. We proudly offer next-day delivery to our members via our fleet of trucks or common carriers. To best serve our customers, CEEUS offers tool repair services, lineman PPE testing, as well as emerging technologies such as broadband fiber optics and electric vehicle charging equipment.

PURPOSE
The Safety Coordinator, reporting to Human Resources, is responsible for developing and maintaining a safe, compliant, and accountable work environment across CEEUS operations. This position serves as the company's safety subject-matter resource, proactively identifying hazards, investigating incidents, managing safety-related claims, and developing practical policies, procedures, and training. The Safety Coordinator partners with Human Resources, Operations, Facilities, Fleet, and other leaders to address safety concerns, implement effective corrective actions, and continuously improve safety performance.
NATURE AND SCOPE
The Safety Coordinator is an experienced safety professional responsible for the day-to-day safety function within CEEUS's distribution and warehouse environment. The position requires a strong understanding of warehouse operations, OSHA and DOT requirements, emergency preparedness, incident investigation, workers' compensation, and risk management. The Safety Coordinator is expected to independently evaluate safety concerns, develop sound solutions, and follow issues through resolution.
Reporting to Human Resources, the Safety Coordinator works collaboratively across the organization while maintaining appropriate independence as the company's safety subject-matter resource. The position supports leadership by providing clear safety guidance, identifying risks and trends, and helping establish accountability for safe work practices and corrective actions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety policies, procedures, programs, and practices that support a safe and compliant work environment.
- Maintain working knowledge of applicable OSHA, DOT/FMCSA, environmental, and other regulatory requirements and ensure safety practices and documentation appropriately reflect those requirements.
- Conduct safety inspections, hazard assessments, job safety analyses, and workplace observations to proactively identify risks and recommend effective controls.
- Investigate workplace injuries, near-misses, property damage, equipment incidents, vehicle accidents, and other safety events; identify root and contributing causes and develop appropriate corrective actions.
- Track identified hazards and corrective actions through completion and follow up to ensure solutions are implemented and effective.
- Coordinate workers’ compensation claims and related documentation in partnership with Human Resources, employees, medical providers, insurance carriers, and other appropriate parties.
- Partner with Human Resources and operational leaders regarding safety expectations, work restrictions, return-to-work matters, employee accountability, and other safety-related concerns.
- Support safety requirements associated with distribution and warehouse operations, including material handling, powered industrial trucks, warehouse traffic, loading and unloading, ergonomics, equipment, facilities, and transportation activities.
- Maintain appropriate emergency preparedness and response procedures and coordinate training, drills, equipment, and resources necessary to respond effectively to workplace emergencies.
- Develop and deliver safety training and education for employees and leaders and promote employee participation in hazard identification, near-miss reporting, and other safety initiatives.
- Monitor safety, incident, claims, and inspection data to identify trends, measure effectiveness, and recommend opportunities for improvement.
- Coordinate applicable environmental, waste management, and hazardous material practices and maintain required documentation.
- Communicate significant safety risks, trends, incidents, and recommendations to Human Resources and appropriate operational leadership and escalate unresolved or significant concerns when necessary.
- Partner with Human Resources, Operations, Facilities, and other leaders to promote accountability, strengthen the safety culture, and integrate safety into daily operations.

WORKING LOCATION AND CONDITIONS
- Based at CEEUS Headquarters and Distribution Center in West Columbia, SC, with travel to the Glen Allen, VA facility and other company locations as needed.
- Work is performed in both office and active warehouse environments.
- Requires regular movement throughout warehouse and operational areas, including exposure to varying temperatures, noise, moving equipment, and other conditions typical of a distribution environment.
- Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with one hour for lunch and two 15 minute breaks.
- Requires availability outside of standard working hours as needed to respond to significant safety incidents, emergencies, or critical operational matters.
- Requires travel as needed to company facilities, training events, conferences, or other locations.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and otherwise navigate warehouse and facility environments as necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull safety equipment, supplies, or materials weighing up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Ability to safely navigate active warehouse environments containing powered industrial trucks, material handling equipment, and other operational hazards.
- Ability to travel between company locations and work in varying environmental conditions typical of warehouse and distribution operations.

- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with employees, management, Human Resources, Operations, Facilities, Fleet, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to exchange accurate information, provide instructions, ask and answer questions, and communicate safety concerns and recommendations in a timely manner.

High School Diploma, Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
Advanced emergency response training beyond basic First Aid/CPR/AED appropriate to a workplace or industrial environment
Ability to obtain and maintain additional safety certifications required for the position
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Management, Industrial Safety, or a related field
CSP, ASP, CHST, or other recognized professional safety certification
OSHA 30-hour or other advanced OSHA training
Additional emergency response, hazardous materials, DOT, or safety related certifications.
Work Experience
Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and maintaining workplace safety policies, procedures, and programs.
Demonstrated experience conducting incident investigations, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
Working knowledge of OSHA requirements, safety recordkeeping, and applicable DOT/FMCSA requirements.
Experience coordinating workers’ compensation claims and responding to workplace injuries, property damage, equipment incidents, or vehicle accidents.
Experience conducting safety inspections, hazard assessments, and safety training.
Experience in a multi-location distribution or warehouse environment.
Experience developing or significantly improving a safety program in an organization with limited or developing safety processes.
