Key Responsibilities

• Staff Management :

  Supervise, train, and motivate yard personnel to ensure efficient allocation of labor and a cohesive team. 

• Operations Management :

  Oversee the receiving, processing, and sorting of scrap materials, ensuring smooth material flow and resource allocation. 

• Equipment Maintenance :

  Ensure the proper operation and maintenance of heavy machinery, such as forklifts and skid steers. 

• Inventory and Logistics :

  Manage inventory levels of scrap materials, track inbound and outbound shipments, and coordinate with transportation for efficient deliveries. 

• Sales and Relationships :

  Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers, customers, and buyers (like mills and smelters) to optimize profitability. 

• Compliance and Safety :

  Enforce safety regulations, ensure compliance with environmental laws and industry standards, and uphold company policies. 

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Leadership and Communication :

  .Strong ability to motivate, train, and build relationships with staff and external partners. 

• Industry Knowledge :

  .A working understanding of scrap operations, transportation, material grading, and market pricing. 

• Technical Skills :.

  Proficiency in operating heavy equipment like forklifts and skid steers.

  Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills to manage various aspects of the yard's operations efficiently. 

• Financial Acumen :

  Basic knowledge of cost accounting principles and the ability to understand income statements to manage budgets and profitability.
