Title: Vice President, Product & Technology Payroll Title: VP, Product & Technology Department & Division: Corporate Platform Development Status: Full-Time Exempt Reports to: EVP, Product Location: Hybrid – Based anywhere in the contiguous US with periodic travel to Salt Lake City, UT (preferred) Compensation: Anticipated base salary of $207,000–$291,000 plus 25% variable and equity Date Posted: 05/15/2026 Job Summary The Vice President, Product & Technology is the senior leader responsible for FranklinCovey’s integrated product and technology strategy across education and enterprise solutions. This role owns the vision, strategy, and execution for our platforms and experiences—including the Impact Platform, 4DXOS, and related technologies and integrations—and leads the cross‑functional organization that builds and operates them (Product Management, Design/UX, Data/Analytics, Engineering, QA). As a systems thinker, the VP will connect content, platform, and customer value to deliver measurable business impact, represent product and technology strategy at the executive level and to the Board, and play a critical role in advancing FranklinCovey’s mission at scale. Essential Job Functions 1. Product & Technology Strategy Define and communicate a cohesive product and technology vision and strategy across FranklinCovey platforms and solutions, aligned with company strategy and growth objectives. Own the development of a multi‑horizon roadmap (e.g., 0–1 innovation, 1–10 scaling, 10+ horizon) that connects near‑term initiatives with long‑term platform evolution. Integrate content, services, and platform experiences into a coherent portfolio that delivers differentiated value across K–12 and enterprise markets. Ensure product and technology investments are prioritized and sequenced based on strategic importance, customer impact, and ROI. 2. Cross‑Functional Product & Technology Leadership Lead and scale a cross‑functional organization spanning Product Management, Design/UX, Data/Analytics, Engineering, and QA. Establish and refine the operating model for cross‑functional execution (e.g., product pods, lean portfolio management, discovery/delivery rhythms) to drive predictable, high‑quality outcomes. Foster strong collaboration across disciplines to ensure that product strategy, user experience, data insights, and technical architecture are tightly aligned. Build and maintain working norms, processes, and governance that support both innovation and disciplined delivery. 3. Engineering & Platform Ownership Provide executive‑level leadership for software platform engineering, including the technical roadmap and architecture for core platforms (e.g., Impact Platform, 4DXOS, integrations). Set direction and standards for engineering excellence—code quality, testing, observability, documentation, security, and operational practices. Partner with infrastructure, DevOps, and security teams to ensure the platforms meet agreed targets for availability, performance, scalability, resilience, and security. Guide key system design and architecture decisions for distributed systems, services/APIs, data flows, and integration patterns, balancing innovation with platform health and technical debt management. 4. Data, Analytics & Insight Oversee the data and analytics function to ensure product and platform decisions are grounded in customer behavior, usage patterns, and business outcomes. Ensure that telemetry and analytics are designed into our platforms to enable measurement of engagement, learning impact, and customer value. Use data to inform portfolio decisions, experiment design, product iteration, and continuous improvement. 5. Delivery Excellence & Operational Performance Own the end‑to‑end product and technology delivery lifecycle—from discovery and validation through build, launch, and iterative improvement. Establish and track delivery and quality metrics (e.g., cycle time, reliability, adoption/engagement, NPS/CSAT, uptime, error rates, deployment frequency) and use them to guide decision‑making and improvements. Ensure teams plan effectively, deliver predictably, and meet commitments while managing risk and adapting to changing priorities. Continuously refine processes (e.g., agile practices, release management, incident management) to support speed with safety. 6. Stakeholder & Executive Partnership Partner closely with content, go‑to‑market, finance, and client success to ensure product direction supports category leadership, mission impact, and commercial goals. Serve as the executive voice for product and technology, operating as a peer on the executive team and regularly presenting to the Board. Provide clear, concise materials and narratives on strategy, status, risks, and capital allocation for executive and Board audiences. Build trust and alignment with regional leaders and other stakeholders to ensure platform and product decisions support global and local needs. 7. Organization, Talent & Culture Design and evolve the organizational structure and talent strategy for Product, Design/UX, Data/Analytics, Engineering, and QA to support current and future needs. Hire, develop, and retain high‑performing leaders and teams, with clear expectations, career paths, and development opportunities. Foster an inclusive, high‑trust culture rooted in learning, accountability, experimentation, and continuous improvement. Model FranklinCovey’s values and Culture of Greatness, stewarding the growth and performance of leaders and teams across Product & Technology. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Product Management, or related discipline), or equivalent practical experience. 10+ years of progressive experience in product management, engineering, or closely related technology/product leadership roles. 7+ years of experience leading cross‑functional teams and managing senior leaders (including product and engineering leaders). Experience owning both product and technology aspects of a portfolio. Experience designing and executing product and platform strategies that deliver measurable business impact. Preferred Skills & Experience Hands‑on experience in either product or technology. Delivered measurable business impact through product and platform strategies. Experience leading cross‑functional organizations that include Product, Design/UX, Data/Analytics, Engineering, and QA, ideally in a SaaS or platform context. Demonstrated success building and scaling high‑performing engineering and product teams that ship high‑quality, cloud‑based products users love. Experience in education or learning technology (K–12 and/or enterprise). Strong strategic, analytical, and systems‑thinking skills; able to connect content, platform capabilities, and customer value in a coherent strategy. Excellent communication and executive presence, with experience operating as part of an executive team and presenting to Boards. Proven ability to lead 0–1 initiatives and scale 1–10 programs, including sunsetting low‑ROI work. Demonstrated skill in portfolio management, prioritization, and capital allocation across competing initiatives. Comfort with ambiguity and speed; able to balance long‑term vision with near‑term delivery. Benefits Medical, dental, and vision insurance, HSA, employee stock purchasing program, 401(k), paid time off, holiday pay, and more.
