Registered Nurse Lactation Consultant
Apex Home Health, Hospice & Home Care
Role The Lactation Consultant is a Registered Nurse specializing in breastfeeding support, education, and advocacy. Responsibilities Facilitate breastfeeding initiation and continuation by providing patient education and assistance. Train and collaborate with maternal nursing staff to ensure consistent information for new mothers. Coordinate with healthcare teams to implement patient care plans. Support outpatient education for expectant and new parents, and conduct breastfeeding classes. Assist as a labor and delivery nurse when census is low to meet staffing needs. Qualifications & Skills Associate's Degree in Nursing (required), Bachelor's preferred. Minimum of 1 year experience in Labor and Delivery (required), 2 years as a lactation educator (preferred). Current Texas RN license or equivalent, BLS certification, NRP, ACLS/ALS as per policy. IBCLC certification within 1 year of hire.
