Position Summary The Manufacturing Plant Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the manufacturing facility by ensuring accurate accounting records, timely financial reporting, and effective management. This position will report to the Plant Controller. A key focus area for this role is the accounts receivable processes. This role partners closely with operations, customer service, sales, and corporate finance teams to maintain financial integrity, optimize cash flow, and support plant performance through financial analysis and reporting. The ideal candidate combines strong accounting fundamentals with hands-on accounts receivable experience and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Accounts Receivable & Credit Management Manage the full accounts receivable cycle, including invoicing, cash application, collections, deductions, and account reconciliations. Monitor aged receivables and proactively follow up on overdue customer balances. Investigate and resolve customer billing discrepancies, short payments, deductions, and disputed invoices. Collaborate with sales, customer service, and customers to resolve collection issues and maintain positive business relationships. Prepare weekly and monthly accounts receivable aging reports and communicate risks to management. Support customer credit reviews and monitor compliance with approved credit limits. Assist in maintaining accurate customer master data within the ERP system. General Ledger Accounting & Cash Management Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts. Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. Prepare supporting schedules for financial reporting. Maintain accurate and complete accounting records. Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports. Reconcile bank accounts and cash transactions. Monitor daily cash activity. Assist with short-term cash flow reporting and forecasting. Ensure accurate recording of cash receipts and disbursements. Reporting & Analysis Prepare recurring financial and operational reports for plant leadership. Analyze trends in sales, receivables, inventory, and expenses. Support cash flow forecasting through monitoring collection activity and customer payment trends. Provide ad hoc financial analysis to support operational decision-making. Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts. Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required. Experience 3-5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment. Minimum 2 years of accounts receivable, collections, and cash application experience. Experience with ERP systems (QuickBooks preferred) Experience supporting month-end close and account reconciliations. Technical Skills Required Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis.
