Mechanical Technician

Job Summary The Mechanical Technician assists plant operations in running efficiently with minimal downtime. Responsibilities Ensures operation of electrical and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on hydraulic, pneumatic, steam, gas, acid, water, coolant systems, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications Completes or updates all maintenance related documentation according to site’s document control procedure: work orders, reports, requisitions, PM tasks, timecards, maintenance manuals, and surveys Condition monitoring - locates sources of problems by observing devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments, initiate corrective actions to prevent unscheduled downtime Troubleshooting malfunctions - selects logical approach to “troubleshooting”, repair problems, and write detailed explanation on cause of malfunction Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance Fabricates repair parts as necessary Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by following parts check out procedure; checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders (as needed); verifying receipt Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results Provides maintenance information by answering questions and requests Prepares maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publication; establishing personal networks Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations Installation of machinery: leveling, aligning, testing, and debugging Provide troubleshooting of Automation and instrumentation Able to read and follow drawings and Document / communicate all machine control modifications to mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to diagnose the root cause of the problem Provide input for documentation and electronic versions of all electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics including panel layouts, PLC and HMI programs Use required control software, including PLCs, HMIs and various motor drive systems Operates production equipment in conjunction with required maintenance Performs Lock-out duties as necessary for all energy sources as the Authorized Person Updating daily logs and entering work orders Coordinate Contractors through the issuing of Work Permits (including safety release for confined space, hot work, elevated work, Job Hazard Analysis and others) Assist in training across functions Must be able to work under high pressure, continuous production environment with high standards Proactive involvement in maintenance to report and prevent any deficiencies Reports to maintenance supervisor, and often works with engineers Responsible for keeping craft skills up to date through ongoing training Maintains a safe and clean work environment adhering to 5S standards and all safety procedures while working efficiently to complete daily and weekly work schedules on time Provides support when necessary for the completion of departmental 8Ds, One Pager investigative reports, safety investigations, and other similar reviews or inquiries Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent is required with over 7 years of Industrial Maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting or a Two-year Industrial Maintenance degree with 2 years or more Industrial Maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting is highly preferred Equipment maintenance, technical understanding, deals with uncertainty, safety, power tools, attention to detail, flexibility, supervision, job knowledge, productivity General hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, straightedges, and rigging Operate power truck, man-lift, other mobile equipment and cranes Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, charts and sketches Precision alignment, cutting, welding, brazing, heating and soldering are preferred Asset care continuous improvement Maintenance systems familiarity - computerized maintenance management system, maintenance schedule, maintenance inventory Preventive Maintenance familiarity - condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, proactive maintenance Maintenance planning and scheduling support tasks Root cause analysis, possess good mechanical and / or electrical experience Be able to work collaboratively and effectively with others as part of a team Be willing to learn, grow, and improve their job skills Strong interpersonal, written, verbal communication, and active listening skills Must possess complex problem solving and critical thinking skills Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly Must be willing to work a rotating schedule that includes nights, weekends and holidays Equal Opportunity Employer Employment decisions are made without regard to race, color, religion, national or ethnic origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, age, disability, protected veteran status or other characteristics protected by law. #J-18808-Ljbffr Constellium
