The Medical Laboratory Technician - ProTech is dedicated to providing quality service in a timely, courteous, and cost effective manner. We work in tandem with the physicians to provide quality diagnostic service to our customers.

Essential Functions:

• Must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Epic use with regard to the LAB menus. Testing procedures in blood banking, hematology, chemistry, serology, urinalysis, coagulation, body fluid analysis.
• Basic background knowledge of Microbiology including gramstain preparation and reading.
• Must be proficient in all Micro procedures.
• Knowledge of normal and alarm values and procedures on reporting and documenting.
• Knowledge of any necessary calculations.
• Performance and evaluation of quality control and use of corrective measures.
• Maintenance of all required logs.
• Processing AAB and other proficiency testing specimens.
• Miscellaneous duties as assigned. Ordering supplies. Complies with Skagit Regional Health Policies and Procedures. Complete all mandatory learning requirements in a timely manner. Attend and actively participate in all department, team and/or committee meetings.

Education:

Associates Degree in Science required, OR equivalent official military or non-military training/experience per CLIA standards/regulation.

Experience/Training:

Prefer two (2) years experience as a generalist in a hospital laboratory setting.

License/Certifications:

Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) ASCP, AMT or AAB certification or equivalent Medical Laboratory Technician licensure required within eighteen (18) months of hire. Washington State Medical Assistant-Phlebotomy preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Repetitive tasks such as typing, sitting, answering phones, and interacting with computers and computer systems most of the day is a function of the position. This position is very active and requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching all day. The employee must frequently lift or move objects up to 45 pounds and position patients to perform phlebotomy. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
