We are seeking a Senior Scientist, MRI to join our Imaging team. The successful candidate will work with the Imaging team's Lead MRI Scientist to execute preclinical MRI studies of rodent models, in collaboration with various therapeutic focus areas, technology teams, and imaging scientists at Regeneron. This will involve coordinating with scientists on experimental design, planning and scheduling animal imaging sessions, acquiring MR images using the 7T Bruker BioSpin system, and ensuring MRI data are relevant, actionable, and of high quality. These data and derived results will be packaged for communication to Regeneron's broader scientific community. You will also collaborate with imaging and therapeutic focus area scientists to optimize and develop MRI protocols for a variety of new MRI techniques and animal models.Current and emerging projects include cardiac imaging of the mouse and rat heart to derive structural and functional endpoints; neuroanatomical volume measurements from high-resolution in vivo brain imaging to measure volumetric brain changes associated with aging and disease; high-resolution anatomical imaging of the inner ear; and magnetic resonance spectroscopy to measure local brain metabolite concentration in genetic models of metabolic disorders. Regeneron's broad biological focus guarantees that you will always have something new to learn and contribute to.When & where:Location: Tarrytown, NY - On-siteDiscover your role:Working closely with the lead MRI scientist to understand project needs and priorities, troubleshoot experiments, and provide updates on project progressIndependently executing projects planned in consultation with the lead MRI scientist and in collaboration with scientists and specialists in Imaging and relevant therapeutic focus areasOperating and optimizing the high field strength MRI for in vivo and ex vivo studies of preclinical rodent models, including critical evaluation of data acquisitionPerforming relevant animal handling, such as administration of anesthesia, preparing animals for scanning, administration of contrast agents, animal monitoring, and preparation of tissue for ex vivo imagingMaintaining online and physical records of data from ongoing and completed projectsThis role requires:An MSc or PhD in Engineering, Biophysics, Biology, Chemistry, or a similar field5+ years of experience operating in vivo rodent MRI, and 5+ years of in vivo mouse/rat handling, including anesthesia, injections, and tissue processingPrior experience with 3D MRI visualization software such as 3D Slicer, ITK Snap, or ImageJKnowledge of basic MRI science and the ability to communicate it to a general audienceKnowledge of mouse and rat anatomy, with the ability to incorporate this into MRI study designPrior experience with Bruker ParaVision software, MRI protocol development, cardiac/respiratory/functional gating or triggering techniques, and MRI/MRS processing software (VivoQuant, Amira, LCModel, FID-A, FSL, etc.) preferredExceptional critical thinking, attention to detail, scientific rigor, and strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skillsThe ability to shift focus between multiple projects while still meeting deadlinesA proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a larger projectA positive attitude and willingness to learn new thingsA passion for biology and helping othersA dedication to sharing, collaborating, and lifting others upDoes this sound like you?
