Job Description

The Packer inspects, sorts, and packages finished products in a manufacturing environment to ensure they meet established quality standards. This role supports smooth production flow, maintains product integrity, and upholds workplace safety and housekeeping standards throughout each shift.

Responsibilities

• Inspect containers and finished products for defects, damage, or any quality concerns.

• Use inspection equipment, including light boxes and templates, to identify product flaws.

• Verify product specifications and promptly notify Quality or Production leadership of any issues.

• Ensure all products are free from contamination or foreign materials before packaging.

• Package products according to work instructions using appropriate boxes, dividers, and packing materials.

• Maintain accurate counts of all packaged products and ensure proper labeling is applied.

• Clearly mark boxes with required production information to support traceability and shipment accuracy.

• Seal and prepare boxes for shipment while maintaining product integrity and preventing damage.

• Monitor production flow and assist in minimizing downtime by responding quickly to issues.

• Communicate quality, safety, or equipment concerns to supervisors in a timely manner.

• Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and company quality standards during all tasks.

• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area throughout the shift.

• Keep assigned work areas clean and organized, including packing tables and workstations.

• Maintain cleanliness in surrounding production areas to support efficient operations.

• Store packaging materials appropriately and keep walkways clear to prevent hazards.

• Clean equipment and work surfaces throughout the shift and at the end of each shift.

• Follow all company safety policies and procedures while performing job duties.

• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as designated for the work area.

• Adhere to environmental, health, and safety regulations at all times.

• Work safely around moving equipment and machinery, maintaining awareness of surroundings.

• Perform repetitive packing and inspection tasks while consistently maintaining quality standards.

Essential Skills

• Basic reading, writing, and math skills to follow work instructions and record information.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify product defects and quality issues.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.

• Capability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.

• Comfort working around moving machinery and equipment.

• Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining focus on quality.

• Physical ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours per shift.

• Frequent ability to bend, twist, reach, and perform repetitive hand movements.

• Ability to lift up to 10 lbs frequently, 1120 lbs regularly, and up to 50 lbs occasionally.

• General manufacturing, production, packaging, or warehouse experience is preferred but not required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with packing, production, and general labor tasks.

• Previous packaging and quality inspection experience is a plus.

• Experience with picking and order picking in a warehouse or production setting.

• Demonstrated reliability and consistency in meeting production and quality expectations.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility with moderate to high noise levels and exposure to dust, fumes, and temperature changes. Safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) are required based on the specific work area, and all safety policies and procedures must be followed. The position involves working around moving machinery and equipment and requires maintaining a clean, organized workspace, including packing tables, workstations, and surrounding production areas. Packers can wear shorts, and steel-toe footwear is not required for this position. Visible plugs are permitted, while visible piercings are not allowed in the work area to support safety and product integrity.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glasgow, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.25/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
