Senior Associate, Projects Division: Clean Energy, Solar, and Electrification Association for Energy Affordability, Inc. Job Details Location: AEA WEST – Emeryville, CA 94608 (primary location San Francisco Bay Area); candidate must be present in Emeryville office 1 day/week and have ability to travel within California upon request. Salary Range: $65,000 – $110,000 per year. Classification: Exempt (FLSA). Level: Experienced. Overview AEA is a New York-based organization with over 20 years of industry experience and has operated a West Coast office since 2010. Energy consulting services are completed through AEA’s participation in federal, state, and local energy efficiency initiatives. Position Summary AEA West seeks a Senior Project Associate to join our tight‑knit, talented team of "Energy Geeks". The candidate should be passionate about energy efficiency and green building, highly organized, and skilled in data analytics. Responsibilities include performing energy audits and energy modeling, and assisting property owners through complex energy retrofit projects. The role operates independently to manage retrofit projects, conduct energy audits of multifamily buildings, evaluate construction feasibility and system design, provide analysis at both project and program levels, perform green building assessments, and conduct technology and market assessments. Responsibilities Managing energy efficiency retrofit projects Conducting energy audits and in‑field energy assessments, on‑site diagnostics, field data collection and analysis, and renewable energy feasibility assessments Performing energy modeling and building stimulations Preparing energy and green building assessment reports based on analytic findings, including detailed equipment specifications and cost and emissions reduction analysis Job costing, construction feasibility, and contractor bid walks Performing basic system engineering analysis and sizing Collaborating with building owners, architects, and other decision makers to incorporate energy efficiency, electrification, and renewable upgrades to projects Construction site visits to inspect in‑progress and completed work Providing LEED, Green Point Rated, and HERS consulting services Performing commissioning and retro‑commissioning studies Conducting training internally and publicly on energy efficiency technologies, energy auditing principles, and decarbonized building operations Working on national projects to develop industry standards and guidelines Supporting and/or leading training and onboarding of junior staff, and assisting with their project development Providing feedback and suggestions to management regarding process and implementation improvements and new strategies Supporting business development and policy initiatives and expanding AEA’s work and opportunities Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, building science, or energy conservation; or Associate’s Degree with on‑the‑job or trades experience in energy conservation, renewable energy, and energy audits Four (4) years of related experience in a related role Excellent communication, organization, presentation, and analytical skills Additional Desirable Qualifications Sound technical writing skills and experience Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), collaboration platforms such as Slack and Teams, and other software/platforms used Knowledge of building systems including mechanical systems, lighting technologies, and building envelope Basic knowledge of CA Title 24 and other building codes Familiarity with local, state, and federal building energy incentive and rebate programs Experience managing construction, retrofit, and/or solar projects Ability to perform cost savings analyses and fuel data analyses Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification preferred Home Energy Rating Systems (HERS and HERS II) rater certification optional Requirements Ability to travel within California upon request Legal to work in the United States without visa sponsorship COVID‑19 vaccination required for all employees; new employees must present proof unless qualifying for a medical or religious exemption EEO and ADA Statement Applicants are considered for all positions without regard to race, color, creed, religion, age, national origin, alienage or citizenship status, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital or partnership status, disability, military status, veteran status, or predisposing genetic characteristics.
