Assistant Volleyball Coach Position Title: Assistant Volleyball Coach Divison: Department: Women's Volleyball Number of hours per week: Vary Months per year: Modified; July – March Job Type: Nine‑month Position Campus: Main Campus Advertised Salary: $3,000/month (Monthly) Job Description The Assistant Volleyball Coach, nine‑month position, will assist the head coach with any aspects related to developing and maintaining a competitive program. Under the guidance of the Head coach, the assistant coach will assist as directed to support phases of the program to include, but not limited to practice and competition support, skill instruction, record/statistic keeping, assisting in recruiting and any other related duties as assigned by the Head Coach. Responsibilities Participate in meetings with the coaching staff, athletic trainers, and University staff to ensure coherent communication throughout the organization. Assist with recruitment activities for student athletes. Help plan and implement practices, and attend practices to help with coaching. Assist department administrators to ensure student‑athletes are meeting responsibilities. Assist with facilitating the code of conduct for student‑athletes. Travel with team. Assist with film breakdown when needed. Assist in efforts to promote the academic success of student‑athletes. Minimum Qualifications Ability to work without supervision, speak clearly, and use courtesy and tact in dealing with people. Understanding of rule requirements for the designated sport. Ability to work a flexible schedule during the nine‑month schedule. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics Strong Leadership Skills. Team building skills – ability to work with coaches, vendors, and university officials effectively. Strong oral & written communication. Physical Demands Ability to relocate equipment and supplies to various locations for athletic events. Ability to drive to various locations. Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds. Ability to operate and run skill drills. Working Conditions Work performed in various locations on and around Tennessee State University campus, including athletic fields, track, and gymnasiums. Travel required. Flexibility to accommodate schedules of athletic events.
