Tool And Die MakerResponsible for performing manufacture, repair and maintenance to progressive dies and rebuild or repair tooling to support production.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform die maintenance, using tool rom equipment and hand toolsLayout and perform center drilling, reaming, lapping, tapping, countersinking and counter boring.Machine parts to blueprint specifications.Fabricate and/or repair dies for production.Layout existing die sections and make replacements as needed.Make in press repairs of tooling.Document and record various data for the department.Drive a hi-lo and operate crane to transport dies for maintenance or installation.Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent, plus formal training leading to Journeyman status as a Tool & Die Maker and/or equivalent on the job experience.5 plus years of related work experience.CompetenciesStrong mechanical ability and problem-solving skills sufficient to perform fabrication and build activities.Blueprint readingKnowledge of cutting, forming, milling, grinding, assembly, tool steel composition, tool sharpening, hardness testing, machine repair, and set-up, and metal fabrication.Operate basic metrology instruments, grinders, mills, lathes, drill presses, optical comparator, and EDM machine.Ability to calculate speeds and feeds and perform machine offsets.Computer skills and math skills sufficient to perform department related tasks required.Communication skills to communicate and interact with all levels of employees.Ability to work effectively with people.LicensureHi-lo and crane certification and journeyman status or accredited certificate required.Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on the plant floor.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
