Job Title Clinical/Field Experience Staff, Respiratory Care Position Summary This position instructs clinical courses for the respiratory care program based on schedule need. The instructor delegates assignments and supervises students in the correct performance of patient assessment and therapies in the clinical setting. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of patient assessment and respiratory therapies. Demonstrate behavior that reflects integrity, supports objectivity, and fosters trust in the profession and its professionals. Delegate assignments and supervise students in correct performance of patient assessment and therapies in the clinical setting. Maintain open communication with the clinical coordinator and clinical facility staff. Continuously seek out learning opportunities to optimize time while in the clinical setting. Prepare for clinical and lab classes by selecting appropriate learning experiences. Evaluate the student for appropriate psychomotor, affective, and cognitive skills. Demonstrate knowledge of policies and procedures as described by the clinical facility. Stay current in discipline subject matter through professional development, involvement in professional organizations, and attending professional meetings, conferences, or workshops. Remain up to date with inter-rater reliability training. Perform other duties consistent with the expectation of clinical staff. Required Minimum Qualifications Associate Degree in Respiratory Care from a CoARC accredited academic institution. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care. Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of Maryland (or state in which affiliated hospital site is located). At least three years’ full‑time current work experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. At least two years of current critical care (ICU) practice. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified. Successfully pass a background check, drug screening, and fingerprinting. Desired Qualifications Previous experience as a clinical preceptor. Three years teaching experience. Three to five years critical care experience. American Heart Association ACLS, PALS certified. Familiar with and up to date on current AARC Clinical Practice Guidelines and continuing education. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Effective oral and written communication skills.
