Pay Range: $29.00 to $35.00 per hour
The Behavioral Wellness Center at Girard is seeking a Quality Improvement Coordinator / Performance Improvement Coordinator to support organization wide quality, patient safety, and performance improvement initiatives.
This position is responsible for coordinating Performance Improvement activities, healthcare quality data collection and analysis, clinical quality review, patient safety monitoring, reporting, audits, and improvement projects across the organization.
The PI Coordinator works closely with clinical and administrative departments to identify trends, performance gaps, and opportunities for improvement and helps translate findings into measurable action plans. The position also supports clinical chart reviews, patient safety and incident reviews, Root Cause Analysis, regulatory and accreditation preparation, dashboards, committee reporting, and organizational Performance Improvement plans.

Important NoteThis position requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. The PI Coordinator must be comfortable working with clinical and operational data, reviewing patient records and quality information, preparing reports and presentations, managing multiple projects and deadlines, and collaborating with departments throughout the organization.
ResponsibilitiesPerformance Improvement & Quality Data• Coordinate Performance Improvement activities throughout the organization under the direction of department leadership
• Collect, review, validate, track, analyze, and trend clinical and operational quality data
• Identify patterns, performance deficiencies, outcomes, and opportunities for measurable improvement
• Monitor performance indicators, improvement goals, and departmental action plans
• Conduct audits, focused reviews, data reviews, and other Performance Improvement activities
• Translate performance findings into actionable improvement initiatives and monitor interventions for effectiveness
• Assist departments with developing measurable performance goals, implementing improvement activities, and evaluating outcomes
• Promote the use of objective data and measurable outcomes in organizational decision making
Clinical Quality & Patient Safety• Review patient safety and incident data to identify quality trends, recurring patterns, and opportunities for Performance Improvement
• Participate in Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and other structured reviews of significant clinical or patient safety events
• Assist with collecting, organizing, and analyzing information required for RCAs, focused reviews, Performance Improvement investigations, and other quality activities
• Conduct objective reviews of clinical documentation and patient records to identify variations in care and potential opportunities for improvement
• Support evaluation of clinical processes and outcomes to identify potential gaps between current performance and established organizational standards
• Participate in Environment of Care surveys, hospital rounds, tracer activities, and other organizational assessments related to quality and Performance Improvement
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative leadership to ensure identified quality concerns are evaluated and incorporated into appropriate Performance Improvement activities
Reporting & Organizational Support• Prepare accurate and timely Performance Improvement reports, summaries, dashboards, presentations, and supporting materials
• Provide quality and Performance Improvement information to departmental leadership, committees, executives, and other organizational stakeholders as directed
• Serve as a Performance Improvement representative at meetings and committees as assigned
• Assist with Performance Improvement meeting agendas, reports, presentations, and supporting documentation
• Track committee recommendations, action items, responsible parties, deadlines, and required follow up
• Collaborate with departments throughout the organization to obtain accurate and timely quality and performance data
• Support preparation of organizational Performance Improvement plans, annual evaluations, reports, and other quality related deliverables
• Support preparation for accreditation and regulatory surveys related to Performance Improvement activities, measures, projects, data, and evidence of sustained improvement
Performance Improvement Education• Serve as a resource to staff and leadership regarding Performance Improvement principles, methodologies, measures, and organizational PI activities
• Educate and coach staff, managers, and organizational stakeholders regarding Performance Improvement processes and expectations as assigned
• Assist departments with understanding performance measures, interpreting findings, developing meaningful improvement activities, and evaluating outcomes
• Encourage interdisciplinary participation and collaboration in Performance Improvement initiatives
• Support a culture of continuous improvement, patient safety, accountability, and evidence based practice throughout the organization
QualificationsEducation• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Health Sciences, Quality Management, or a related healthcare field preferred
• A relevant combination of education and healthcare quality or Performance Improvement experience may be considered
Experience• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Healthcare Quality Improvement, Performance Improvement, Quality Assurance, healthcare data analysis, project coordination, or a related function preferred
• Experience within behavioral health, psychiatric healthcare, substance use treatment, hospital, or another regulated healthcare environment strongly preferred
• Experience with clinical chart review, quality audits, performance measurement, data collection, reporting, or Performance Improvement projects preferred
• Certification in healthcare quality, patient safety, Performance Improvement, or a related field is preferred but not required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities• Strong knowledge of Performance Improvement and Quality Improvement principles
• Working knowledge of the Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) performance improvement cycle or similar structured improvement methodologies
• Knowledge of healthcare quality, patient safety, clinical performance measurement, and regulatory expectations
• Ability to collect, organize, analyze, interpret, and communicate healthcare performance data
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to recognize trends, patterns, outliers, and potential performance deficiencies
• Ability to objectively review clinical documentation and organizational processes
• Strong organizational, prioritization, project coordination, and time management skills
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to develop clear, concise, accurate, and timely reports
• Ability to organize and present quality data to staff, leadership, committees, and executive stakeholders
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, audits, deadlines, and reporting requirements
• Ability to work independently while recognizing concerns requiring escalation to leadership
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and related data management and reporting applications
• Ability to appropriately manage confidential clinical, patient safety, quality, employee, provider, and organizational information
Work EnvironmentThis is a healthcare Performance Improvement position requiring regular collaboration with clinical staff, nursing, Medical Staff, Utilization Management, Risk Management, Safety, Business Office, department leadership, and other organizational stakeholders.
The role involves significant use of computers and data systems for quality data analysis, reporting, documentation, presentations, audits, and project tracking. The PI Coordinator must be able to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, meetings, audits, and Performance Improvement activities while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
