Hines Building Maintenance (HBM) is looking for alert individual with a focus on customer service and great communication skills to monitor a campus at an independent private school. The Safety Monitor is responsible for ensuring safe school practices and visitor protocols are followed.

The schedule is Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 6 pm with opportunities for overtime.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Welcomes, assists, and answers inquiries from students, visitors, and staff in a supportive and professional manner.
• Monitors drop off/pick up process of students with support of the staff
• Contacts proper authorities in a timely manner when needed.
• Provides high visibility to act as a deterrent to unsafe or poor behavior, loitering, and disruptive behavior.
• Escort visitors to ensure visitor protocols are followed.
• Walks campus and looks for safety hazards
• Helps with event setups and teardown.
• During closed campus days, this person will work with the facilities team cleaning the campus and on other facilities-related projects including but not limited to: cleaning, painting, power washing, floor care.

Qualifications (knowledge, skills, abilities):

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Ability to use sound judgement in difficult situations and solve problems effectively.
• Ability to communicate verbally with staff in a professional and curious manner.
• Knowledge of conflict resolution techniques and de-escalation techniques.
• CPR and First Aid certification required within 1 year after entering position
• Preferred education and experience
• 1-year experience working in a school setting preferred.
• Working knowledge of two-way radio.
• Basic knowledge of using a PC and MS Office software.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift, pull, push 40 pounds occasionally.

Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time during a shift.

Other Requirements:

Must be able to pass federal background check (Livescan), and Tuberculosis (TB) test.
